    Maple leaf house cue

I have a customer that would like me to split this house cue. Doing the split is not a big deal but I would like to know what I'm getting into. Does anyone know how this joint is constructed? If no responses I might take it to work and put it in the X-ray. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Finish spots

Please help me get rid of these. Before I started I saw no bubbles or any imperfections. I started with epoxy base and then DC2000 auto clear. Then smoothed out with 320 wet, 600 wet, up to 2000 wet. Then buff with rough compound and finish buff. I just don't get what is causing these spots...

    Gunsmithing lathe

I have started keeping my eye out to get a more precision lathe. Looking on craigslist I have found some close but one of the better ones says it is a gunsmiths lathe. Is there a difference or any kind of benefit to this type of lathe over a standard metal lathe?

    Sleeve or not

I am repairing this shaft and just wanted to get some opinions. My plan was to epoxy it back up and clamp it. Then turn it down and sleeve it. But then I got to thinking maybe all that isn't necessary because the epoxy will be stronger than the wood. The other reason I have concerns is he...

    Is it done?

Last night I was finishing a cue and this happened. I had the motor turned down to almost a stall. After about 35 minutes the caps that hold the brushes popped out. The motor got hot but is still free. Is it toast and ready for a swap or does it just need new caps? The current caps will not...

    Is there a fix?

I am thinking about keeping this cue as it is for my own. Is there a way to keep these cracks from not moving anymore under the clear? I'm afraid that the finish might show them if they move again. My plan is to soak them with thin CA to provide a bond to hold them. Thanks, Sent from my...

    Lucasi break tip

I have a customer that his OEM break tip broke out. So I replaced it with a black phenolic tip and it just isn't the same. The original was a brown color. Can someone tell me what it was so I can replace this one for him? It is a "Big beulah 2" Thanks, Al Sent from my XT901 using Tapatalk

    Weight bolt or not

I have been working on a curly maple cue and about to finish it up. I put the butt on the scale last night and it pretty close to the target weight with no pin or bumper. If by stroke of luck it comes out perfect would you go ahead and add a weight bolt for the end user or tell them to try and...

    Moving Rings

So I made my first billets and after the first try cutting the slots I got it right. So I got them all cut up and installed with solid black phenolic and a metal ring on either side of the billet. As I was cutting them down to size with a carbide tool and then the dilemma came. The cutter did...

    Came home to disaster

So I came home tonight to check on my cue that I just put cue cote on today. I was so happy with the way that it went on as it was looking like the best one that I had done yet. When I walked into my shop and looked at it in the lathe it wasn't spinning. :( As I kept looking I found that the...

    FS-2004 Gilbert J/B

I took in on consignment a Gilbert J/B. Cue is very solid with small signs of wear. Shaft is new but does not have a break tip on it as the owner was using it as player. I hit some balls with it and noticed no noises as cue is very solid. Comes with old style single cue case and shaper...

Does someone have a copy of the AAA, AA, A, B, C & D 9 ball handicap system like they use in Cape Girardeau. I am thinking about starting a league and using that system as I thought it made the matches very even. Thanks,
