How do you guy's burnish tips? I wet the tip and then touch it with 2000 grit sandpaper, seems to work well on layered tips but doesn't work well on Lepros that have been trimmed. I'm looking for that dark brown look and can't get it......any help would be appreciated

I just purchased a used lathe from a guy for a $1000 CAD that's about $875 US, it's a Unique products lathe and it would be the package III. Just wondering if anybody had any experience with these lathes and if they are decent or junk, although it's kind of late to be asking now...........thanks...
