Any good pool halls in Cleveland?...

...I'm heading out there this week. Been on the road for a month and haven't gotten a chance to play much. This is the last stop of March Madness for me. (I'm ready for some rest.)

    "Sneaky Pete" and the gullible...

OK, I don’t get it**. There is this cue stick known as the “Sneaky Pete”... I guess the “sneaky” part is that it “looks" like a bar cue, but it ain’t. Ain’t been for years. The dead giveaway is the “314”* printed on it near the joint. So... Does anyone really get to “sneak” their Pete up...

    Basic question...

I'm guessing that the pin size ie., 3/8X10 refers to the diameter X the number of threads. Am I close?

14.1 - Do I need my head examined?

I've been playing "pool" for a year. Tonight I played 14.1 for the first time. Oh, I've read about it... "played" it (kinda) on my home table... I think I'm in love. My folks will say, "Son, 8-Ball is more your speed!" Or they'll tell me about this nice little 9-Ball that lives down the...

Books vs Videos & I'm taking a lesson w/ Scott

This relates to the Books & Video vs. lessons thread that turned into something, if not ugly, then unseemly. I thought we might start fresh here. Before I talk about the lesson, I'd like to give my 2 cents on the original subject. I started playing pool over a year ago. I got some...

    Chalk talk...

I go to a few places that have green cloth on the tables, yet they have blue Master chalk. Wouldn't you want to have the same (or close) color chalk to match the cloths color?

    Best NJ pool rooms...

I'm looking for the best NJ pools rooms for a possible story on the NJ billiard scene. As an aside I'm going to try and find the best young player in the state. I know about Comet Billiards in Parsippany... nice place, good tables! Where else should I look?

    Is playing practicing?

My practice habits are scattershot. Sometimes (at home) I do drills, but most of the time I reach into the pockets, spread balls out on the table and "assign" myself a course of action... Solids or stripes... numerical order... try to make the toughest shot... take the shot I know i'm weak...

    Had my first run tonight...

I started playing seriously only a few months ago... Cleaned out my basement and made a decent pool room down there. ...Been practicing. Tonight it paid off - I played 8 ball at my local bar and had my first real run... I broke and ran three racks in a row! Woo Hoo!!! Now, I know that...
