Maple burl forearm with purpleheart core, lizard print leather wrap, amboyna burl butt. All the white is ivory and the scrim was done by Linda Stone. She is fantastic to work with and very talented.

    Josh Roberts

Josh Roberts continues to improve in 3 areas, one pocket, 9(10) ball, and announcing. He had a really strong finish in the Scotty Townsend Memorial Tournament and, I think, surprised a few people. I look for him to continue to improve. AND, Mary Kenniston really thinks he is the Bomb, so...

    Deuel versus Chohan

For you one pocket fans, in your opinion, what kinda weight would Corey need to play Chohan for some serious cash? Chohan is one of the most creative guys playing one pocket. He does not, in my opinion, play at Dennis or Alex's speed. Corey also is very creative and thoughtful in his approach...

    IPhone 6Plus for Cue Photos

Can anyone offer suggestions for using an IPhone 6Plus to take cue pictures to post on AZB? Is it possible to take clear photos of the cue with this phone? Finally, a full cue photo seems to be "long range" if that makes any sense.

    Cut2D Program for inlays

I wonder how many new or even long-time cuemakers, who are providing inlays in their cue, have tried the program. I started building in 1992 and still crank out some cues. I have BobCad V-21 and V-29 but have struggled some to utilize them. Gary Medlin of Gem Cues suggested the program to me...

    Long 3/8 x 16 Tap

Can anyone suggest a source for a 10-12 inch 3/8 x 16 tap to be used for installing weight bolts? I suppose I could buy the 5 inch one and weld an extension on it but wondered if longer taps were available?

    Dust Pickup for Metal Lathe

Would anyone be willing to share photos of their dust collection setup for a metal lathe? I have a 36 inch Enco gear head lathe that I use with a router mounted on the tool post, on the operator side of the cue being turned down. I considered a plexiglas box but it would seem to be truly...

one pocket seniors tourney in Houston

Ok. I can't take it anymore!! Who won the tournament? I quit the event about 1:30 a.m. with Ike and Billy still playing and Ike was up 2-0. I am thinking Ike won because they both looked tired but who is the champion? A good friend of mine James Davis, Sr. was in the hot seat.

    Stepper motor needed

I am searching for a Nema 17 dual shaft stepper motor with the following parameters: 8mm shaft diameter , 2 phase 3 A 1.5N or greater, 4 wire. If it did not have an 8mm shaft, I believe I could find a coupler to mate them. I have looked on Ebay, contacted suppliers of Chinese 6040 cnc...

    Joe Macnamara is gone

Joe Macnamara, aka Joe Mac died of a heart attack yesterday afternoon near Austin, Texas. Joe Mac was a well known player in Texas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma. His best playing years were in the 70's, 80's, and 90's. An apt student of one pocket, 9 ball, 10 ball, straight pool, and a decent 3...

    Stepper Motor Replacement

In a previous post I asked about a replacement stepper motor for a Chinese cnc for inlays. This is their 6040 cnc with a water cooled spindle. The motor that is an exact replacement would be a NEMA 23, 57, 2 phase, 3 amp, 1.5N CM. I can find others that have a higher or lower N and perhaps the...

    Grizzly 14 inch Bandsaw

If you could choose a Grizzly 14 inch bandsaw, which one would be your choice. They have a number of choices from around $500 to $1200. Other than the 1 piece base vs. 2 piece, I am not sure about the other differences. I currently have a Delta 14" bandsaw that allows only a 3/8 inch blade(at...

    Shell Veneer Sheets

Have any of you guys used the shell veneer sheets from Masecraft to make stitch rings? The sheets appear to be an acrylic overlay of actual shell. The acrylic is fairly thick while the shell is thin. I would use this in a 3/16ths wide slot cut by pantograph into ebony. If you cut this with a...
