    Entertaining cue listings

I've always thought that there should be a thread on this subject as sometimes listings are too funny not to share. I'll start it off with this "unicorn" https://www.ebay.com/itm/334875049744?mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&siteid=0&customid=link&campid=5335988529&toolid=20001&mkevt=1

Is it time for a new Blue Book of pool cues?

It's been almost 20 years since the last edition and there are countless new makers that were either up and coming or relatively unknown at the time of the 3rd edition printing. I'm aware that often times the investment of energy hasn't always turned out to be lucrative however for the sake of...

Block letter Joss with 5 veneer forearm

Has anyone ever seen a 5 veneer Joss? I've looked everywhere I can and cannot seem to find one but a cue that I have has 5. Ebony points, maple/green/green/orange/black. I had pondered the possibility of it being a Spain forearm as he was one who used 5 veneers but haven't seen another.

    Gus Szamboti's destroyed cue?

Let me begin by saying that I love a good story and am infatuated with history and lore. This particular section of the biography of Gus Szamboti written in the 3rd edition blue book of pool cues has always fascinated me. The story of the broken cue is legendary as it's one that gives us a bit...

Removed the wrap on a vintage cue and found...

Not a signature but a piece of green thread intentionally tied to the butt under the wrap. What could it possibly signify?

    Fancy ebony Wico 4 point

Here is an interesting cue: 4 ebony points, wico veneer, butt is ebony with mother of pearl and ebony rings(yes the thin rings are indeed ebony). Extremely well crafted cue with a very unique feel. I have my thoughts about who made the cue, what are your thoughts?

    Antique scorekeeper

I found this today, by far one of the most elaborate scorekeepers I've ever seen. It has dials for each player to 100, buttons you push with your cue to add 1-8 points depending on which button you push, a timer of sorts as well as a game counter. It appears to be cast iron and is extremely...

    Origins of the box cue

    Cue ID help...

So I bought this cue which I assumed was a really rough Adam gb-7 as it looks just like it, but when it got here I scratched my head a bit. First thing the buttcap was too short, the bumper was wrong, and the weight bolt looked wrong. The cue actually looks a lot older than a gb-7 (even the...

    Signed cues vs. unsigned

In the case of signed and unsigned work from classic makers (and by signed I'm referring to cues like Palmer, rambow, joss, ect where they are script to an individual as well as cues from makers that have no markings vs a logo being present) how does that affect the value? Obviously there are...

    Can this be fixed?

I got two cues that are full splice that have completely delaminated, I do not have the spliced handles, just the forearms and both cues are straight. I'm wondering if they can have a new handle spliced with veneers or if I'm going to have to remove the splice and joint a new handle?
