Hey guys... What is the best way to cut the groove for a leather wrap? A) Cut the area between centers with tailstock offset? Or B) Chuck up close to area to be cut and use taper bar? Note: I have a Porper B lathe..... I tried between centers on an old cue and it bounced a little while...

Hey guys...I have a question. I'm sure there are different ways to apply the finish. But... When you apply the finish, do you do it before you drill, tap, and install pin? And before drilling and tapping shaft? Or after installing the pin etc.?
