Could SVB be the G.O.A.T. ???

The G.O.A.T. should always be thought of as - pick a player in their prime, take all the money out of your bank account and put it on that player to win it all in any applicable game (8/9/10/1-hole/14.1/banks/3-cushion...). Do you feel pretty comfortable doing that with Efren? Do you feel...

    ROBIN DREYER...a great pool instructor

It's just a review, I'm not trying to "sell" anything...but fair enough - He's the best because he makes you better at pool. I know tons of his students, and I was one of them. He makes everyone better, usually a lot better. He's a great teacher to work with because he instantly assesses...

Who are some players who were/are not naturally gifted

This is always one of the things I think of when someone says "natural ability". I didn't know how to do anything when I started even though I read books and watched videos. It wasn't "natural" for my body to fall into place or my hands to grip the cue well or get aligned toward the shot or be...

    BCAPL Nationals Moving To March!!!

Bonehead move, unless they're trying to kill off other tournaments (or maybe kill off theirs). There are a lot of other tournaments around this time so now people will have to choose.

    Chess clocks solve everything...I think

Exactly my point. Shot clocks don't work for those games but chess clocks do.

    Chess clocks solve everything...I think

So that means that one, and exactly one shot takes more careful planning per game? This gets rid of per-shot. Take as long as you want just understand you have to play fast enough to not lose. Also, shot clocks aren't usually used for 8 ball (you could take several minutes on the first shot...

    Alternate break is ruining pool

What does that have to do with race length?

    Chess clocks solve everything...I think

It is, but it's on the player not the tournament director. If you can't play within the allotted time, you lose. Simple as that. It's not that hard to do, just takes a little bit of time management. I bet in 90% of the matches the clock isn't even a factor because there's plenty of time...

    Chess clocks solve everything...I think

But slow play shouldn't matter. You just have to make up time on a couple hangers and it all averages out. It's not a shot clock, take as long as you want on a harder shot as long as you make it up somewhere else.

    Alternate break is ruining pool

I agree, but the USBTC 8 ball is a race to 5. Tons of tournaments are a race to 7.

    Chess clocks solve everything...I think

This is a chess clock - You set each side to half the allotted time of the match. When your turn at the table is over you hit your side to stop your clock and start your opponents. Take as long as you want on a particular shot, it's up to you to budget your allotted match time. If...

    Alternate break is ruining pool

Race length matters. Winner break for sure if the race is long enough. If the race is to 5 though, winner break can be a huge advantage. You wanna bet the whole match on the lag?

    Question for APA players

If you want to win more, and get better...accept the timeouts. Having to stand up on your shot is no big deal and a very normal thing that you should do with no problem when it's needed. When you get a little better it won't bother you at all. Nothing is worse than watching a player lose the...

How league operators take more than they give

You pretty much personify why pool is (arguably) dying in the U.S. Your views defy logic. If you want pool to grow, you want more people to play. Leagues are the perfect way to get new players to play. You're just bashing APA because you don't like the tactics of some local APA guy and it's...
