Larry-I'm kind of retired-lol. I never played consistently good in the first place. I discovered lots of other good things in life that took precedent around that time (not that pool playing is not a good thing!).

Old timers...tell me about The Miz

Terry, No need for me to keep his life and accomplishments fresh in our minds. Everyone here is doing that already. I should be the one thanking everyone. He was my father but some of those "life changing events" I eluded to in my last post left him a little more distant from his children than...

Old timers...tell me about The Miz

Terry, Since his passing, that was the most accurate description of his life I have read so far, in my opinion. He was very proud of his achievements. That came from an early age, as my Grandfather was very tough on him growing up and my Grandfather was a very proud person himself. He did want...

    A BIG Thank You

Jim He played for many of the teams in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. Erie PA, Richmond VA and even Quebec Canada. When he decided to hang it up it was in the middle of a game, he went in the dugout, changed into street clothes and sat in the stands for the rest of the game. Thanks Steve

    A BIG Thank You

Jim, I believe this is the info you discovered on the web...in case anyone is interested: Al "Red" Schoendienst played for the New York Giants in the 1950s. I came across a couple of interesting little stories I wanted to share with forum readers. "While playing minor league ball with the...

    A BIG Thank You

Random Thoughts Dave, Some random things that come to mind: Something people may not know is he never taught his children anything about pool. I never played pool with him, ever. I'd play, he'd be nearby but we never actually played a game. No pointers, ever. I think he felt our lives would...

    gambling

Steve and Gambling Jay, Thank you for the kind words about my father (especially in SI)..but, I have to ask.....do you really think gambling wasn't something he didn't do? Every time I'd see him play at West End when he was through NJ, he'd be right there on Table 1 and it wasn't to put an...
