I’m making a cue for a friend. I finished the shaft today and it’s very light at 3.2ozs. It doesn’t have a brass insert (will be a 3/8-10 wood joint) or any metal in the joint ring, it’s 30” long, pro taper, and 12.9 at the tip. I knew it would be light from the start but not sure about it now...

If I change the joint to sambar stag would that be resistant to the dust and oil of cocobolo? Just curious because I have a piece of that

Some help here gents please. I’m making a cue with a cocobolo forearm. When I finish the cuts the coco dust/ oil is staining the white linen collar. I’ve tried cleaning it with denatured alcohol and sanding it out with no luck. What can I use to get this clean? Thanks guys

I don’t believe there’s any resin infusing that’s going on. My understanding is it’s heated and moisturized then heated again to a higher temp essentially destroying cell structure so it can no longer absorb moisture. Not 100% sure on that but I just made 2 roasted shafts and I didn’t notice any...

Any tips on getting the bottom of the splice points sharp past the point that the bandsaw blade can go. I’ve been trying a thin hacksaw blade but it tends to wander..?
