Why do people suck so bad at taking pictures of pool cues?

A combination of both. Occam's razor. The simplest answer is usually the best. Consider what average intelligence is today, and then consider nearly half the population is dumber than that. To do anything with attention to detail and a desire to do it with excellence is simply beyond most...

    What glove do you use?

I've tried lots of gloves, paid over $20 for them, and found one on Amazon for $9.99 that's the best glove I've ever used. Well made and durable. I've seen several other guys at my local pool hall use them too.

How to clean wood shaft after every use?

n I never touch my cue with water. 90% alcohol with a paper towel. Water's probably OK if you wipe dry immediately, but the alcohol is always handy. Burnish with a leather pad and it's good to go.

    Pechauer Cues

Pechauer doesn't use decals or overlays. Points and inlays on the JP series are done the same as their Pro Series. What's wrong with using a dark stain on maple? What are you talking about with getting refined and sanding off?

    Pechauer Cues

Don't worry. The primary difference between their JP and Pro Series cues (I have one of each and have won a lot of matches with both) is the JP cues have a flat face joint, a slightly larger butt diameter, and are less expensive since they don't use exotic hardwoods. Quality otherwise is pretty...

    Pechauer Cues

FYI the quality today is outstanding. I've heard more than one dealer say they have the best finish in the business. I bought a custom cue made by a well-known and well respected maker, and its finish (and playability in my opinion) couldn't compare to my peach. I sold the custom cue and still...

    Pechauer Cues

Pechauer is a great company. They own their own timberland, harvest their own trees, make all their joints and screws in their own machine shop, maintain excellent QC, and provide outstanding customer service. They will make any custom cue you want, and you can select any joint, etc. On top of...

Moving to a heavy playing cue

Over the years I've gone from 18.5 to 19, then to 19.5 and I just got a new cue that was supposed to be 19.5 but is 19.8 and it's my new favorite. Get yourself a weight bolt kit and add gradually until you find what works best for you.

    Rug or no Rug?

When we got a table in our house we put it in a room with a tile floor, and the dealer recommended we put a rug down. The rug only extends about 18" past the table edges, and that seems perfect to me.

Are the new Tariffs on Goods from China going to affect prices on Pool cues?

Joss and Pechauer are also made in the USA. Pechauer in particular bought their own timberland, harvests their own trees, processes the lumber in their own sawmill, and makes all metal parts in their own machine shop. How are you going to beat that?

Are the new Tariffs on Goods from China going to affect prices on Pool cues?

Which cues are the best is completely subjective, so any time anyone uses the term "known fact" that's generally not true.

Are the new Tariffs on Goods from China going to affect prices on Pool cues?

Actually, going from $312 to $387 is a 24% increase, which seems pretty substantial to me.

Anyone clean their tips on the carpet before putting it back in the case?

That's a little extreme, but I can understand their wanting their customers to help keep the place clean and not be inconsiderate jerks.

Anyone clean their tips on the carpet before putting it back in the case?

It never occurred to me to wipe my tips on the carpet until I saw someone do that, and I think it's rude. I keep a paper towel in my case and always use that to wipe the tips of my cues before I put them back in. I fold the towel so no chalk is exposed to the case interior. Simple fix.

What's going on with pool equipment?

I just bought a limited series Joss JOS213 and it's great. I prefer no-wrap cues and Steve Janes told me he makes the Limited Series exactly the same way he makes all Joss cues. I upgraded to their LD maple shaft and got it delivered for under $400. I review it in the Cue forum. Best bargain...

What's going on with pool equipment?

He's not entirely wrong. He overstates his case, and people can find what they want most of the time if they're patient and are willing to settle for their second choice, but imo there do seem to be a lot more items listed as "out of stock" than there used to be.

    Joss "Limited Series" cues

Greetings all. I just received my JOS213 "limited series" cue ordered from Pool Dawg and I'm impressed. For a price of $267.75 I wasn't sure how Joss could hit that price point without cutting corners, but I was assured they meet all the usual Joss quality standards. I upgraded to their HP...

    Joss "Limited Series" cues

Greetings all. Joss is selling "limited series" cues on a couple pool supply warehouses. They're priced at $267.75 which is considerably lower than their norm. They aren't particularly attractive, but I've never played with a Joss and at that price it might be something to try. Has anyone played...

Not sure which is your favorite cue?

Does anyone else with multiple cues struggle with deciding which one you play the best with? I have cues with different butt and tip diameters, different feels, different tips, and it seems like I play pretty much the same with all of them. I have picked one and use if for competition, but any...
