Tascarella Cue questions...for owners and previous owners...

It's funny to think about how we put certain caps and limitations on ourselves with certain things. It's our subconscious trying to be sensible I think. For the longest time my cap was $1000. Then it starts to move, mainly because it has to. When you get curious about certain cue builders, they...

Tascarella Cue questions...for owners and previous owners...

Yeah, it's all relative. Its what you're comfortable with. I have found that the higher you go in price, the more difficult it is to find a buyer to resell unless it's perfect shape, no flaws, etc. The group of people buying these cues are the top 1% of the 1% of pool cue collectors. You have to...

Tascarella Cue questions...for owners and previous owners...

Is there something you order special from them when you get a cue or do you just get it with their taper, stock measurements, classic or hoppe?

Tascarella Cue questions...for owners and previous owners...

I agree. It’s worth it if it means enough to you. My decision was to forgo the new Tascarella and search for a good used example to play first. If I love it, I’ll go ahead and order a custom.

Thats kind of disappointing that they don't fetch closer to 90% for a near mint cue. It makes me want to buy one second hand first! Thank you for your recommendation.

Tascarella Cue questions...for owners and previous owners...

That’s a pretty colorful analogy, but I get what you’re saying. At the end of the day a lot of things can get you to the same destination, the difference is in the experience along the way and what someone is comfortable paying for it. I guess I wouldn't have started a discussion about...

Tascarella Cue questions...for owners and previous owners...

Hey Martin! I completely agree. I know you’ve bought and sold Tascarella cues. You also deal with quite a few other cuemakers. I’m sure you’ve probably played with hundreds of cues. Do you feel like Tascarella cues are one of those must try cuemakers? How would you rank them for playability...

Tascarella Cue questions...for owners and previous owners...

So for you, you like your Tascs but it’s not the cue you prefer to play with. I’ve had two Treadway and ended up selling them both. I haven’t tried Shelby’s cues yet. It’s definitely on the list.

I completely respect your opinion. I’ve heard nothing but the best about the Tascarellas. Given that you have had 10 cues built, do you always do the same specs? Do you have certain preferences that they do specifically well? I’d love to hear more.

When have I ever listened to my sensible side? I’d still be playing with my first cue. I think that sensible person is boring as f*ck!

Tascarella Cue questions...for owners and previous owners...

Its great to hear the buying and selling stories. But none of the 3 Tasc cues were right for you! Now you know what you like if you were to order one from Pete. I agree on the specs for resale. Or maybe buy one shaft specific to what you like and another one "stock" taper and 13mm to keep for...

Tascarella Cue questions...for owners and previous owners...

I agree and disagree. I don't see them as a pure investment but they are in a sense, if you take care of them. Especially cues from famous and desirable makers. If you can take care of them and treat them right, you can sell them for the same or even more than you paid for them. I buy them to...

Tascarella Cue questions...for owners and previous owners...

Thats what my sensible side says....you don't need a Tascarella! You won't take it out of the house. You'll worry about it as an investment. It will be a closet queen that you'll take out seldom and you'll sell it 5 years from now when you realize its just sitting there. I just did that with...

Thanks Chris! Great info! I love that you are a die hard fan. You make me want to get one for sure. What kind of taper did you get?

Tascarella Cue questions...for owners and previous owners...

I agree. You are buying the name. Also the resale value. Hit and playability are subjective and I'm sure I could find a cue 1/100 of the price that hits as good. Why can't I just be happy with what I have? I feel like you go down this rabbit hole...what if this cue is amazing....sometimes I...

Tascarella Cue questions...for owners and previous owners...

Playability is always subjective. I can always sell it if I don't like it of course. $5K does seem like a lot for his "basic" or "classic" style. The main question for you....you've owned 2 or 3....why did you sell them and not keep them?
