Did not need that then. Usenet was a great place to find stuff from 1980 onwards, lots of helpful people and at least the first 10-15 years not a lot of bs (spam, political crap etc.).

Yes. I fully agree with Rubik's. The bad thing about those sticky backs is that they work fine for a few weeks, months - maybe even 1 or 2 years. But suddenly they fall off. Had this happen too often with much lighter weights than 6 pool balls. I would definitely screw them to the wall.

1P is always a good option. My favorite game, although my pocketing is just not good enough :-(

Hi Rubik's. Always nice to see your wonderful arrangements. Interesting pool balls, the shrooms :-) I would have to figure out which game to play with them - Straight Pool maybe?

Too late. I guess you already answered and I missed it.

Did you find most of them on eBay? Or more because people know you and then offer them? Yard sales? (As you know, I don't collect pool balls - only golf balls. But I find many at my favorite golf courses - not the fru fru Country Club ones, more like the ones where not so wealthy people play...

    Pool Ball Collecting.

Yeah, so it would certainly be more of a pure "collectors' ball" nowadays. If you look at snooker players and how they have/get the balls cleaned because of miniscule hints of chalk or the people who try Straight Pool records ... this set of balls would not cut it. But in a modern version you...

.... That is interesting in a way! Does that mean you can really feel those stripes when you touch the ball? If so, I would imagine I would not want to play them in high precision/slow shot games like Straight Pool ....

    Pool Ball Collecting.

No, I just came back to the forum 1-2 months ago or so. The notification by email stopped working for the threads (and PMs) I subscribed to - for some strange reason or other. During covid with an old lady to take care of, I just did not feel like forums and indoor sports etc. Too much other...

Whole sets of balls for GBP 5? Was that what you said? Then you have been extremely lucky. In that case you took them all, right?

Assembler and BCPL or even FORTRAN would be way better for such a novelty project :-)

Dan Harriman's Cue Sports Prep Academy

Hi, after reading 34 pages of this thread I was crying. Yes, weeping ... crying. Not a single person signed up for this great Academy. I will be the first one to do so, yessir. I do have a few issues, though: I need to start with the CIA (or was it NSA, CID, DIA ...). I keep confusing these...

Pool hall with Diamond 9-footers in Twin Cities

Yes, very nice of him. I was having problems answering to threads and private conversations and not receiving notification emails from this site but those should finally be ironed out thanks to Mike Howerton. Thank you all.

Pool hall with Diamond 9-footers in Twin Cities

Thank you, now I have a lot of choices. Tinman has answered my PM and he has another very nice suggestion - his own private club. So, I should not have a problem to find something for a day or two.

Pool hall with Diamond 9-footers in Twin Cities

Thank you all for the recommendations. I contacted Tinman. In the pictures of Jimmysprobilliards I did not see a Diamond 9-footer, but I suppose they have one? (I want to try one out since there is not a single one here in Munich, next one I know is a Diamond 10-footer in Berlin.) No, I won't...

Pool hall with Diamond 9-footers in Twin Cities

Hi, I will visit a very good friend in July/August close to St. Paul. He is not a pool player, so he does not have recommendations. I am looking for a pool hall or pool place with 9ft. Diamond tables. Any suggestions? I don't gamble. I would prefer a place where I could borrow a decent cue to...

Is Schmidt's and charlie 626 Legit

The same BCA that has been trashed by Harriman so many times is now a different organization? Wow.

Is Schmidt's and charlie 626 Legit

Is that so? I don't know either of the two, DH or JS, in person. But I have seen very much of Harriman's insults here, foul language, attacks, character assassinations on top of being very boring after 2.5 years. Not only in this thread. I have rarely or actually never seen someone beating a...

Is Schmidt's and charlie 626 Legit

Well, that first post was 2.5 years ago. He had to repeat and clarify it over 246 pages ... else we would have fallen off the flat earth stumbling around trying to figure it out ...
