The Mosconi Cup is hardly pool's Super Bowl.

A bad roll doesn't mean the balls defy the laws of physics.... It means they behave in a way that the players can't be expected to predict, or that something happens the players don't intend. When Mikey Krause missed the ball in the side and it went two rails into the other side, that's a roll...

    The Reyes Cup

You think that seeing a closeup of a cueball while the player shoots the critical shot of a match, so that you can't actually see whether the ball is made or whether position is gotten, is useful? Agree to disagree...

    The Reyes Cup

This was another great event by Matchroom, and fantastic to see Reyes getting a cup named after him. But one thing that I will never understand is the camerawork during these major tournaments. Someone tell the directors that extreme closeups of the cueball before it's about to be hit are not...

    The Reyes Cup

Really questionable decision by FSR to play a push out after the break when he had a direct shot at the 2 ball: Instead of playing safe on the 2, he chooses to push out, leaving Yapp this shot: This is essentially the same shot FSR had, but from greater distance. Yapp plays safe but ends up...

US Open (9 ball) 2024, August 19-24, Atlantic City

I have a hard time believing you're really asking this in good faith given your history of comments, but what the heck. An exhibition is a display of skills for the public. It's a match that has no significance or stakes other than to show the public something cool. This match had 100K in the...

Yes the outfields, and also the height of the fences. No two MLB parks are the same.

    2024 World Pool Championship

It's standard at every tournament... They ask for the cue to be cleaned when it has chalk on it so the ball doesn't skid. Why would Matchroom ban this?

    2024 World Pool Championship

This makes no sense. Yes, if you make the conditions harder, then world class players like Joshua Filler have a lower chance of running out the set or running packages. But you don't need to run packages to win - you need to win more games than your opponent. If the conditions are harder, then...

    2024 World Pool Championship

Why would tight pockets randomize the results? Tight pockets are harder to make balls into. Something being more difficult isn't the same thing as it being more random - it's actually less random because you need to be more accurate to pocket on tighter pockets.

Weaker players will miss more on tougher pockets too... And they will miss more than stronger players.

MOSCONI CUP 2023 AZB Watch Party / Master Thread

There's always going to be some luck in pool, but most fans would probably agree that better rules minimize the effect of luck, not maximize it. You can never remove it completely, but I think a better rule in this situation would be to just spot the ball that flew off the table, rather than...

MOSCONI CUP 2023 AZB Watch Party / Master Thread

Is there something you can point to that he did that was any different than other breaks that would predictably cause a ball to fly off the table? Random things happen in pool sometimes -- I don't think you should be penalized for them.

MOSCONI CUP 2023 AZB Watch Party / Master Thread

On the break, yes, because that ball flying off the table was a complete random fluke. His break on that rack was pretty standard, and he did nothing that you could point to that led to the ball flying off the table. So why should he give up BIH on that?

MOSCONI CUP 2023 AZB Watch Party / Master Thread

Shane Wolford broke, made a ball, and another ball flew off the table, which is ruled a foul and gives Alcaide BIH. That has to be the dumbest rule in the books. Crazy that he's penalized for that break.
