Possibly no need to send it off if the existing bumper is threaded or there is a weight bolt hole. The extension bumpers are available in different threads so you may be able to switch it out yourself and then just order the extension or have one custom made to match or at least look good.

Then you really need a cue smith. The shaft is easy the pin is much more difficult.

A .312 reamer would be better, but rigging up a drill press to dead center drill down into a shaft is not probable. Not impossible, but not really easy to do either.

A boring bar goes in as the cue spins and only removes the inner part of the thread.

A drill bit will wander and not be centered

No a tap cuts the threads. The threads are already 3/8-10. The minor diameter needs to be bored out on a lathe to match the pin.

3/8-10 shaft thread and 3/8-10 mod pin. Shouldn’t need to be tapped, just bore out the threads to fit the inner diameter of the pin. I’d also confirm the shaft is really a 3/8-10 if you haven’t already.

I do however have a purple stained with maple points that is an older variation. Fourth from the left. Pechauer makes great cues and great customer service. If I didn’t make cues now I’d still be playing with one.

I was at a bar last week and saw an Ebony one piece (single butterfly) sitting in the rack. Asked the bartender to ask the owner if I could buy it or replace it with another. They ended up just giving it to me.

Yes that is the thread of my struggles. Installing a tip is a simple job but also simple to screw up. I have had to repair many that others have done poorly. Owners that tried to do it themselves by hand I can understand. An actual repair guy though, I’m surprised they let it leave their shop...

Ok you got me there. I guess answering that late in the night/morning impaired my reading skills. I was thinking about more than just tips. To the OP like DeeDee said simple tools do work. Examples on YouTube. Some “devices” can be damaging so be careful.

If you are looking at devices then it’s not a pro job. You need a proper cue lathe or modified metal lathe in order to do professional repairs.

If the price is right it should work just as good. It is a little easier to get in tight spaces. At the time veneer presses were pricey so I went with a mini iron.
