    Specialized Chalks - Pricing/Performance/Pre-shot routine/etc.

    1. Taom Soft 2. It's far cleaner than green Triangle, which I was using for years prior, and I wasn't getting on with 2.0 or V10. It's very nice on laminated tips as I find it's a little pastier than the other Taom options. I don't have any experiences using any of the popular American brands...

Ronnie O'Sullivan does a jump shot - in a snooker match.

    No, English. "I call[ed] foul. Yeah. Ronnie O'Sullivan, 74, Xiao Guodong, 4."

People who use chalk holders...what do you do when

I use a chalk pouch. Just pop your chalk in and you're good to go. No fiddling with magnets or trying to get the chalk out of the holder when it's worn down. Strange they're not more popular Stateside.

    Beginning playing Snooker.

Maximus, Ton Praram and Master Cue are all highly reputable Thai cue makers. If you're on a budget, Maximus' Immortal line or a machine-spliced Master Cue would definitely be my recommendations. I'm an English pool player myself, but I also dabble in snooker and am a keen watcher, and have a...

If offer a shot of Booze after playing pool, do you accept?

I wouldn't say no to a pint after a few frames. Most of the time, it's friendly competition in my pub league, so drinks are pretty much expected.

Taom V10 is the best chalk I've used. If you've got something better tell me what and why.

I switched from V10 to Soft. Wasn't getting on with the former as I was getting frequent miscues with it on the tips I was using, both pressed and laminated. Soft's a little pastier but it's not as "messy" as green Triangle, which is a pretty clean chalk in itself, so it's the happy medium...

Chris “THE MAGICIAN” Melling Does It Again … More Amazing Shot Sequences

Shaun Murphy is also called The Magician. Granted, all three are used in different circumstances of cue sports: one for snooker and one for each pool discipline.

    Chalk on The Rail

I'm currently using a cheap chalk pouch from Woods Cues, but I do have my eye on a nice burgundy one on Green Baize's web store. I've always kept my chalk in my pocket, but I've noticed recently that the Taom I keep in the fob watch pocket of my jeans has its label peeling away as a result...

Are we all playing with the same leather (layered / solid) tip after 4-6 months?

Coming up on four months with my Mike Wooldridge SuperTip and it's been fantastic so far. I play in a weekly pub league and If I can make it to six months, I'll be happy. Might have it replaced with another one or try a new tip out. Haven't decided yet.

Nah, I'd say if it was Custom Cues, they'd have definitely posted about it on their Facebook page.

It's a Ton Praram from what I've seen online. Phantom model, judging by the red badge. He also seems to have had a titanium ferrule fitted.

    Tip size

Anything over 10mm feels weird, like a log on my bridge hand. Not used to it at all. I usually play American pool with my 9.5mm snooker cue.

    Ironing Cloth

Ironing tables is incredibly common with English pool tables, especially in tournament settings. Never heard of it being done on American pool tables, though.

    Preferred tip hardness

Still chopping, changing and experimenting, but I'm loving my MW SuperTip (medium) right now. My old G3 was getting too low, so I had to swap it out.

    Looking for decent, mid-priced cue

Green Baize in Stockton have a very, very good selection of cues for all levels. Some great brands there like Ton Praram and Maximus, but their own GBL selection is superb, too. They have a lot of full shaft cues in stock. For your budget, you can get a very nice cue and still have cash...
