Looking for: 30” 5/16-14 shaft with short(er) ferrule

I appreciate your metered response. I don't generally troll people but in this case I did, purposely. This particular thread provided the perfect example and the basis for my even posting again. Granted it's not the most appropriate section for my rant but other than that, the stars were in...

Looking for: 30” 5/16-14 shaft with short(er) ferrule

Since you have a lathe it begs the question of why you don't make your own. You could then match ring-work exactly as well as pilot depth and diameter. That would also eliminate the chance of someone 'pulling a fast one' on you. Or is your presence in the Cue-Maker's section all show and no go ...

    Cue ID help please!

The deco-rings are aluminum, not nickel, not silver. They're generally not coupled with ivory. It may not be ivory. Everything about the cue is low-end and likely import. Why is the finish lifting just below the collar? That's the last place finish would lift unless the jnt.collar has been...

    Odd problem today...

Was a clamp used to secure the collar during cure-time ?

    #1 reason why you don't shape a tip with a pencil-sharpener.

    Narrowed Tenons

Bob's own words: (Most of which are total BS IMO.) http://www.tooboring.com/ph_Why--a--Meucci--Power--Piston_recreation.php What Bob is describing, the forearm, "is a thin sleeve of high-impact plastic material over a maple dowel. A lot of his cues are built that way and aren't labelled...

    Narrowed Tenons

That's called the 'Power-Piston'. A Meucci exclusive. As to it's benefits, I'll let the reader decide. KJ

    Irish Linen Wrap technique

Both methods are considered acceptable and quality of adhesive has a lot to do with it. I use both methods on the same wrap; pin in front, tuck in back with white Elmer's. In 30 yrs, I don't think I've ever had an issue with linen wraps. So the drill to the cue was a little disconcerting eh...

Is this a regular 3/8x10 or radial? And one other question

Who made the cue ? Is this person still alive ? Why aren't you having them make your desired shaft ? They know what pin they use and I'll bet they can match the ring-work exactly. They may not have to guess at the joint diameter either. Not everyone will tell you this. KJ

    Gaboon Stability Question

Coring has been mentioned but I'm not certain why. You haven't stated any wghts for the wood and EBO is fairly stable, other than a possibility to check while seasoning. My concern here would be the separation of the sap-wood from the heart-wood at some point in the future. There's no guarantee...

The point of McDermott I shafts?

You answered your own question of "why were they made?". Purely for the money. IMO, there is nothing special about the McD 'i'shaft. Once Predator opened the L/D market, several other cue companies wanted in on the action. These companies all came up with their own 'me too' version. They've all...

    Radial pin issue

In this particular example no, it's not a bastard, at least in my opinion. This pin is pertinent to this cue. That's the pin it was meant to have and for no amount of love or money would I consider changing it. Also in my opinion, no one should be allowed to work on that cue other than Bill...

    Radial pin issue

These are two different pins and nothing about them is interchangeable. The pin in the JW is an American ball-screw, 3/8x8 The pin in the Dayton is a 'Radial', 3/8x7.65 Drilling the hole larger will not change the tpi. What's interesting is that Bill Stroud/JW is one of the inventors of the...

    5/16 x 18 insert failure

Are you the original owner? Did you buy the shaft new? Predator shafts come with a warranty. Continued play of the shaft, knowing that it's in need of repair COULD constitute abuse, ie, good-bye warranty.

    Makes me want to quit

Who issues a refund without having the return in hand ? Wouldn't you want to at least SEE the complaint issue before refunding. This isn't your first go-round at being in business. Did you give refunds for diamonds that you never got back ? I feel for you but you did this to yourself.
