Anyway to know if rubber has to be replaced before putting table together?

Yes indeed and I'd keep away from the harder facings. I went with 1/4 inch facings when I restored my rails to tighten the pockets and opted for the harder ones (I ordered both soft and hard) with the lining on the faces. Regretted it, when banking we have to avoid the pocket tips because those...

    GC 4 castings?

My original chrome GC4 castings were just 'okay'. Not horrible but I'm not really into chrome. I purchased OEM original GC4 castings in plated satin nickel. They are holding up really well...

GC4 pocket castings sit higher than rails

I also have a GC4 and these components are not exactly precision engineered. I wrestled mine for best fit. All are flush at the rear, most all are flush with the skirt or very close. Most all are high at the cushion about 1/16 inch. Not enough to cause any playability problems so I elected to...

RKC glued down cloth installation video

I'm telling you right now, Glen makes stretching cloth look a LOT easier than it is. lol He walked me through stretching mine, and I also had both videos. Much cussing and sweating and loss of skin off knuckles took place.

    RKC

Glen is super generous with his time (understatement), knowledge and techniques when speaking with him over the phone and just a really nice guy. He personally helped me (a total noob) restore my Gold Crown IV. We had many great conversations during the rebuild on a number of topics not pool...

    Help I.D. a table please

Check all the rail studs, the threads are swaged (nicked with a chisel) on one end so that they will insert only so far into the rails and stop. 2-3 of mine would continue turning past that point so I re-swaged them with a chisel. I purchased new nuts for them also due to corrosion and...

    Help I.D. a table please

I would count parts and order any missing items. Mine was missing several T nuts for the pocket castings, I found them here https://www.classicbilliards.net/antique-parts-accessories/gold-crown-medalist/rail-casting-connector-nut-gold-crown-4.html Also missing a couple of the large star dome...

GCIV Pro 8 pics during my rebuild Here I'm adding the frame extensions to beef up the ends of the frame. This is Mahogany. Here are the completed frame extensions. I used 2 of the existing bolt holes with longer bolts, and drilled 2 more additional holes. Varathane brand Dark Walnut stain...

    Help I.D. a table please

GCIV owner here. I recommend you find a set of adjustable feet like this. These spin on bearings like a lazy susan, note the 2 set screws. The bottom won't damage your floor. Even with the full weight of the table these spin with minimum effort by hand or even the toe of your foot. Pretty fine...

Carbon Fiber Shafts should be Banned

I purchased CF shafts because I like them better than wood. I love how silky smooth they are and the feel vs my wood cues. My main cue and break cue are both predators with Revo shafts. I gifted my Pechauer to a buddy who can't afford a cue that expensive.

My pool buddies are intimidated by my CF's, it messes with them mentally (evil grin)

Yet they can afford a $1,000 smart phone, your statement is simply not true. Now CF shafts are "soulless"? Sorry but I'm done responding to this nonsense.

Carbon Fiber Shafts should be Banned

Yes they did. Ditto for golf, bowling, skiing, skating and many sports. Made in USA guitars have become ridiculously expensive. Fenders you could purchase for $750 are now pushing $3,000. The used prices have climbed in tandem. Hell I picked up a Turkey breast in the supermarket last fall, saw...

Get ready for roasted Maple shafts. Heat treating Maple to stabilize and plasticize the wood has already hit the guitar manufacturing industry to keep guitar necks from twisting, bowing, expanding/shrinking. We'll forget all about this CF thread when the roasted Maple shaft thread starts.

Carbon Fiber Shafts should be Banned

A buddy of mine has 25 years playing experience on me. The Predator BKRush break cue has leveled the playing field on breaking but even with the other new Predator cue w/Revo CF shaft I'm still choking on the 8 ball and scratching and can't buy a side pocket cut. (face palm)

Your new nickname is John McEnroe. Back when tennis was transitioning from wood rackets to larger composite rackets John McEnroe had an absolute meltdown over it. lol With my new Predator cue and Revo CF shaft costing only $919 people are not being priced out of the sport.
