Is it considered bad form to take a shot just to screw over your opponent?

I wasn't. Now that I got a table finally, I'm trying to learn these official rules, which some of the details have always been an open question for me and usually just fell into the category of house rules (i.e. someone says "I don't know...we always played this way" and you just roll with it)...

Is it considered bad form to take a shot just to screw over your opponent?

Hey folks, So you're playing a game and you've got no shot. Nothing. But you could tap the ball a few inches forward, maybe leaving it in the center of a cluster of balls, for no other purpose other than to ruin any potential shot that your opponent may have. Is this considered bad...

Can cheap balls ruin your felt?

    Thanks!

Can cheap balls ruin your felt?

Ok thanks. I think my takeaway is that these balls, because they are phenolic and not nylon, are made of the same material as the dynasphere bronze and some aramith as well. They should not burn the felt, so I should be good to keep them without risking damage to the felt. They may or may not...

Can cheap balls ruin your felt?

Looks like the dynasphere bronze are "phenolic resin" as well: https://www.ozonebilliards.com/product/dynaspheres-pool-balls-bronze

Can cheap balls ruin your felt?

The website for the balls lists it as epoxy resin but the box says phenolic https://www.pooltables.com/accessories/spencer-marston-hot-shot-ball-set

Can cheap balls ruin your felt?

Thanks. Yes, says phenolic on the box. That means no risk of felt damage? Are these at all comparable to the dynasphere bronze?

Can cheap balls ruin your felt?

Hey folks, Just got my first table. I played a lot back when I was a teenager but very little since (40's now). So I can beat many, but I'm still considered a beginner by anyone with talent. My table came with $99 balls (Spencer Marston Hot Shot) and I put Championship Tour 30/30 felt on the...

Is Champion Tour Steel Gray a light or dark gray?

Oh yeah that's why I created the post. I'm only getting it if it's the lighter version.

Is Champion Tour Steel Gray a light or dark gray?

Thanks all. It's going on a black table which is partly why I asked. Wanted to make sure there was a decent contrast. Also I've heard it's hard to play on dark cloth and as you can see by the second image, this one may be very dark. Will try to get samples as suggested. Glad to hear though that...

Is Champion Tour Steel Gray a light or dark gray?

Hey folks, I've seen 2 common images of Champion Tour Steel Gray on the web. Both are below. One is a lighter gray and one is a dark gray. Does anyone know which one is more accurate? Also, is this the only gray they offer? Can't find anything else. Thanks

    Simonis 860 stock?

Thanks so much. With all my searching not sure how I missed that thread. Maybe because it had 860HR in the title rather than just 860. Great thread...im only one page 1 but seems to answer a lot of my questions...Thanks again

Thanks. Is it a legit concern or pretty unheard of?

    Simonis 860 stock?

Hey folks, Went to purchase my first table but the table supplier informed me that the Simonis factory had a fire and there's a nationwide shortage of 860 cloth. They said I could supply my own if I could find, but said it's really hard to find and there's price gouging going on. Looking for...

Did the Gandy Big G have a smaller sibling?

After delivery and setup and some 860, I'll be about 2k all in. Seems to be the going rate for the Big G's as well. For a GC 3 I could go all in for 3.2k or 4.2k for a GC 4. I know they're better but I haven't been able to locate a black one in decent shape that goes for less than 5.5k, and...

Did the Gandy Big G have a smaller sibling?

There's a used Gandy pool table for sale, that has a striking resemblance to a Black Gandy Big G, but the seller says it's an 8' table and has a ping pong top. Says 1" slate. Did the Gandy Big G have a smaller sibling that had a ping pong top? And if so, is it as equally solid and good as the...

    One import table vs another

I think though the answer to this thread probably is: "Not sure, we haven't played on a Spencer Marston or Ozone or even Glenwood, so it's hard to compare. In general, our advice is do whatever you can to get a GC or older Brunswick or a Diamond, but good luck and hope it works out.". And...
