I guess it depends on how you define reasonable and how you define elite. To me it is incredibly unreasonable to fine players for playing in alternative events when they are barely breaking even playing in your sanctioned events. How can you be both "elite" and broke?

Interesting - now that I think about it, I don't recall the "top" women's players playing in the Ultimate Pool USA tournaments. Does WPBA have rules that prevent, say, Kristina or Margaret from playing other events like Ultimate Pool USA?

Quite simply, there isn't enough outside money in pool. There isn't enough money in the pool table, cue, chalk, etc. industry for those companies to justify making pool a lucrative profession. Needing to beat 4 of these killers that play today just to break even is an absolute joke.
