I grew up in Chicago playing 14:1 because that's what everyone was playing. Now ~5 decades later I practice 14:1 but prefer 1 pkt.

I love my custom cues and I prefer my Cognoscenti when playing 1P...but I also love playing 8/9/10 ball with my Predator BLAK (Revo 12.9). Also tend to wear my Apple Watch instead of my windups... Little easier to care for and replace the newer stuff (watches, cues, shafts). To each is own...

Our team looks good in their jerseys...of course we are all retired military and tend to look sharp and well kept as a point of order. What you wear and how you present yourself say a lot about you.

I play 1P at Park Avenue in Jax and Anastasia Billiards in St Augustine.

Fixed my Revo no questions asked. Shipping return was lightning fast. No problems with their customer service. I wish they took walk ins as I live near Jacksonville...but I get not wanting to "deal" with people face to face ;-)

Bought my first cue from a guy hanging around the bowling alley I was playing at (76 Lanes on North Avenue). Its a pretty plain Ray Schuler cue which I still have.

That's the route I took as well. I used a Predator 3x5 Urbain with a JB interior (not bad really). Now a JB 3x6 Leather Butterfly.

It will come back with some work. You will definitely play differently than you used to...and that's OK. Have fun
