What beginner pool tip do you wish you learned sooner?

I generally do something similar: if I don't have a pure stop shot on the game ball, I'll look for the spot on the rail I want the cue ball to hit. One more point for beginners: Find a friendly player that's better than you, but is helpful. I see loads of decent players that are just out for...

Dynaspheres and WNT Launch Major Partnership as the New Balls of the Tour

Just played with a set of Dynaspheres for the first time (not sure which set). They played fine, but it's the first time I've ever had issues identifying balls. Also, dear God these are hideous.

Take all of the weight out of your break cue

Big Dumper is an anomaly in all kinds of ways. He's definitely not in the majority of MLB hitters.

What beginner pool tip do you wish you learned sooner?

Most common pieces of advice i give beginners: - Slow down - Stay down on the shot - Relax your hands/arms - Be smooth through the cue ball For intermediate players figuring out cue ball control: - Use the natural path of the cue ball. Don't be afraid to follow. - Spin *IS* speed. (also learned...

Take all of the weight out of your break cue

KE = (mv^2)/2 Cue speed is more important than weight. That's why MLB players don't swing 35oz bats anymore. Control is another thing entirely, but if you're looking for maximum cue ball velocity you want the intersection of where the cue weight crosses your maximum hand speed.

Dynaspheres and WNT Launch Major Partnership as the New Balls of the Tour

I'm sure this is a consideration when a manufacturer is making a new set, and it's nice to get the input from people it affects. Glad the change works for you. I'm not huge on the look, but balls are balls as long as they're quality and don't blend in with the table (the gray cloth takes care of...

Dynaspheres and WNT Launch Major Partnership as the New Balls of the Tour

Beat me to it. Good lord what is that 2 ball? and the 9 ball? and that cue ball? You know what, i'm with the angry old guys here: this set is hideous.

Poor Darren drawing Filler in the first round. That's rough.

Radial vs Uni-Loc: Is there really a big difference?

This is funny because my experience has been the opposite. I've never had issues with my Uni-loc joints, but my 2 Radial shafts (Predator Revo) loosen up while i'm playing. I try to make sure the joint is snug, but i won't hulk it like some guys. They're both solid joints, but the key is to...

Have you wanted to try a CF shaft but want a shaft that is closer to 13mm?

I break with a Predator Revo 12.9, but it shoots pretty well with a playing tip. Prefer the 12.4, but the 12.9 is certainly playable if stiffer is your preference.

Another stupid thread from me: golf is harder than pool

You can throw darts in there too. (pun intended) I've played hockey, baseball, soccer, volleyball, bowled, long-ish range marksmanship, and of course pool. I still have no f-ing clue how those guys can smash the T20 repeatedly then hit any random double on the board like it's nothing...

She was also paired with Jayson Shaw in one of those dubs events. She's definitely downloading top-tier knowledge. Her tactical game is noticeably better from even a few months ago.

    (Un)Popular Opinion on Fargo Rate

Is that from him suddenly having more FR matches in the system, or has he been overperforming that much? Not sure how big the data set was before then.

SVB's last break was a full "WTF???" moment. Can't be any better than that without anything going in. When he's having trouble with the break, it's *rough*.

Agree. Too many close-ups and when they do, they should switch to overhead or wide angle before the shot is taken. A lot of these shots we're just seeing the result. Especially with the breaks, i've been rewinding to see what ball their targeting, but on some you can't even tell on replay...

Pro Pocket Size TOO Small for 9 Ball

Seconded. A couple weeks ago where SVB 3-fouled Filler is one of the best racks i've ever seen. There were 3 x 2-fouls in that rack, i think. It takes some absurd safety play to get that many fouls out of those guys.
