Why do players seem to want the same cue, tip, and specs that their favorite player uses?

I'm always interested in what people play with, especially players that use strange setups (ex. Filler's featherweight). That said it's pretty purely out of curiosity - at least until you see something that's not on the market. The butt on the SVB (Gen1 at least) is THICK. Feels very strange...

    Still alive at 65.....!!!!!

OK, so what's your favorite cigar? I always liked a Maduro 50-52 shorty (3-4") because I was never in for a long smoke. First taste of fire and I'm done. I liked Onyx for affordable and tasty, with good sizes. Don't smoke anymore because that smell doesn't come out and I don't want to taste it...

    Traditional wood shafts making comeback?

If you don't like that, my hard tipped Revo would probably have you plugging your ears. 😂

    Tip pick vs Scuffer

It works better on the soft and it's just easier to hit the tip with the Willard.

    Tip pick vs Scuffer

I used to use a tip pick, but i have since switched from a soft to hard tip and the pick doesn't work as well. Just use a Willard's tool when i need it, which is a lot less with the hard tip.

    Traditional wood shafts making comeback?

Wood and carbon (and hybrid) just feel different. Same with wood from different manufacturers. Same with carbon from different manufacturers. It's all preference. I still break out my old SP with a 314 or Z and love the feel, but after a while playing I'm reminded why I switched. I also think...

    The 9B Break Nowadays

Yup. You can't give these players that much angle into the rack or they'll just throw the wing ball into the corner and control the 1. That box was what, 2-3" wider than WNT events and that's all it took.

Well this aged like milk on a summer day... Oh well. Pulling for AJ Manas and The Viking now.

Are Gold Crowns Still Being "Diamondized?"

I love practicing safes against myself. Helps with speed control and kicking. "Oh that's a good one...@&^$ how do I get out of this...?"

    THE Magic Rack

I've been seeing ads for the new Taom rack (thanks targeted advertising...). Any more detailed thoughts on it?

    THE Magic Rack

I personally prefer the Turtle Rack II. Mine has held up for 2 years and it's less plastic-y than the others. https://www.pooldawg.com/pool-table-accessories/standard-pool-table-accessories/pool-ball-racks/turtle-rack-original-9-10-ball-rkturo

Are Gold Crowns Still Being "Diamondized?"

Where are you breaking from and how are you trying to hit the 1? I primarily play 10b, which I've found can be a really touchy break. Often the classic Choose 2: make a ball, control the cue ball, or get a good spread. I have found that backing off the break power tends to work better than...

UK Open 2025 Telford, UK, May 6-11

This has been a good match. Andri's kick return safe in rack 9(?) was excellent.

Pool jerseys are bad, but also not good

Cycling kit is kind of supposed to be loud. Especially for roadies where they need to be seen for safety reasons. Also bright colors are fun... This is one of my favorite riding jerseys, but I'd never wear anything pool related like this. I even feel weird wearing my Predator t-shirts to the...

Paging Dr. Dave! How did this scratch?

Possibly a little skid from the CB and being pinched between the 8 and the rail was enough. Had one of these a couple weeks ago. Playing the 5, going under the 10 for position on the 6 up table (only reset the 3 balls pictured, so may not be 100% accurate but close enough). Somehow hugged the...

Fedor vs Shane argue with me

It'll be close, just like last time. I'd be surprised if it was more than a 12 game difference in the end.
