FS: Winning One Pocket, Second Edition

Hey everyone, long time no post! I'm selling my second edition copy of Winning One Pocket. I haven't been playing much these days, and I need to buy a suit for a friend's wedding, so some cash needs to be freed up. The binding and pages are in great shape, some wear on the covers and...

How do you feel about the bathroom break?

This thread reminds me of the 2011 ACUI Nationals 9-ball tournament I shot in. It was the third round winners side, and I was playing last year's champion in a race to 8. I was able to capitalize on some good play and started the set out strong leading 5-1. My opponent takes his bathroom...

    Pool Table Themed Wet Bar

The second you said this, a concept popped into my head. I'm at work, so I can't really develop on this too much, but it's a cool idea to base a bar off of a pool table. Could look pretty sporty!

How would you play Buddy Hall, 9 ball race to 11 games for the cheese?

Without reading any other posts and just off of my gut feeling, I would probably feel good with the 6-ball and 3 on the wire.

Help: Who is this pool player?

I don't believe Mike Eck shoots with a steel-joined cue, though. I would say pass on this one.

    Traveling cue tip installer, Chicago

I know Gil Castillo does (or did, it's been a while) work like this traveling around. I thought I had his card in my wallet, but I must have given it away to someone else. I PM'd you his number, give him a try.

Pool cues on Boardwalk Empire (TV)

In the show's first season (haven't watched the second yet), Arnold Rothstein is seen several times shooting pool at his New York residence. The cue he plays with is far from period: it looks like a steel half-jointed production cue with a low-deflection shaft of some kind, judging by the logo...

    IDing some old ball sets?

I found a guy on Reddit a few months ago who said he has an office in a warehouse that has "1000s" of pool balls sitting around. I asked him for a few pictures before he did anything with them, and here's what he showed me: Can anyone help us figure out what he has his hands on here?

An Idea For A Pool Movie

I'm not sure of the chronology here, but I envisioned a cue made around 1918-19, right at the pool boom. Following the cue and its story from the first peak, first decline, second small peak/decline, and recent history, with the conversion after the second peak. It sounds so dry typing the...

    Doubling Cube in Pool

This. In backgammon, you offer the cube on your turn before you roll the dice. The pool correlation to this would be doubling when you get to the table, but before you take your shot. It's the difference between betting for yourself or betting against your opponent.

The Myth of the Great Shotmaker

There's a young shooter at my home pool room, regarded as a strong player for his age by many, who I feel is more of a shooter than all-around player. He can definitely control the rock when he tries to, but he doesn't always want to :p Playing 1P, you'd notice him getting into trouble by...
