    Overcoming Frustration

Since not many chimed in, I'll throw my 2c in. I've been in competitive sports most of my life, and have had a few relatives who reached the higher ranks in some sports (Baseball, Archery, Figure Skating). Growing up and talking to those people, or being coached by them, one thing every...

    Favorite/easiest diamond banking systems.

I'm a big fan of the "Confidently line the bank up, miss it wide by a mile, and hop the cue ball off the table" system. Works every time for me.

    Careful Criticizing CSI Org

I was referring to the operators claiming the pockets were enlarged to speed up play because they went over time before. I couldn't care less how big or small the actual pockets are, but it seems like a bandaid solution to a much bigger problem if they're actually using bigger pockets to try...

    Wrap sealing

Only thing I could think of to watch out for when doing it, if you don't cut the wrap groove deeper to account for the finish height over the linen, you're gonna end up with a ridge over the wrap section. So if the idea is to just re-fresh the current linen and clear over it, I think that'd...

Plane Jane curly maple 1 piece to brush up on free-handing leather wraps

Going to place an order for a batch of leathers from superior, so waiting to build a little $$ for that! Goat will be in it :) The nicer batch I am referring to in the post is a mix of leather from Chris Hightower and I swung by McDermott and grabbed some of their stock they use. It's not...

    Wrap sealing

I have never finished over a linen wrap, I've "sealed" them with bullseye sanding sealer before. I am curious, do you mean finish over it with clear like meucci's? Or just seal it with some type of sealant?

More New Leather Wrap Styles At Superiorcues.com

Looks great! Will place an order eventually to compliment a fine piece of wood J sent me!

What’s the diameter of your Butt?? 😏

The cues I make are usually around 1.24 other cues I own are all over the place. Some are fat as a baseball bat, some are skinny like my schon. I never really had issues being attached to one cue or another, so I've always picked out a different cue every day I shoot and I am comfortable...

Plane Jane curly maple 1 piece to brush up on free-handing leather wraps

Been a while since I've done a leather wrap, so I decided to put one on this less than stellar piece of curly maple I had got free with a shipment. Turned out damn nice even for a practice piece. Got some nice quality leather wraps on order, excited to work with those next.

It's always the Indian Boyz and Girls

I can shoot the lights out with a mop handle if I had to. Doesn't mean I want to. I would never say a specific cue makes me shoot better. But damn if some cues don't just feel better in the hands..

    Classic Cue Market Dying Off

Pretty quick by custom standards means not waiting 2-5 years. You wanna wait 2-5 years for someone to work with kiln dried lumber? Be my guest. I guess there's the scenic route for everything, but waiting years to make a cue with kiln dried lumber is like aging a box of franzia saying it gets...

    Classic Cue Market Dying Off

I live in Wisconsin. I fully understand what you mean. But it's not because the custom market is dead, it's because the over priced, extremely long wait list custom cue market is dead. People really don't prefer a production line cue, they prefer the price of it, and the "get it now" factor.

    Classic Cue Market Dying Off

I'm not being argumentative, but I must disagree. I'm a fledgling cue maker, and partly why I became a cue maker is because of the un-tapped custom market near me. The custom market is tapped, actually, but the mid-level affordable custom market is untapped. Everyone I know and shoot pool with...

    Do I really NEED a $10k table?

FaceBook market place is the #1 place now a days to score deals and good finds. Craigslist is no longer used by the masses, but I still check it cause sometimes things pop up.

G 10 pin on break cue?

Everything bends given enough force. I've seen a dude fall over and bend his steel pin like a banana. I won't steer anyone away from alum or g10, I just tell people they can't use it as a baseball bat and expect it to not go wonky. I like the alum pin hit on a lot of cues.

    Can any wood be repurposed?

Better question - Is it worth it? Wood really isn't expensive, especially wood from a desk. I'd imagine less headache and cheaper in the long haul to just buy good wood.

What cue manufacturer(s) would you say has the best customer service and warranty?

I live near McDermott and have owned their cues, friends own their cues etc. They're probably the gold standard of warranties. I've never needed warranty work on a cue so never used them for repair personally, but I've never heard a bad thing.
