Unfortunately, I read that due to the quantum efficiency of the camera sensor, the black eight ball cannot be reliably distinguished from the purple four ball. So an orange five is right out! Only silly-colored balls will work.

This ^ The "straightedge" is highlighting the ball dimension and the tray which has no claim to dimensional accuracy. Set the balls on the table and hold a trusted straightedge across them.
