Advise on a full size lathe

[ They look very similar to me, so i'm asking you folks for advise on the two. Is the first one worth the extra $$ ? Thanks for the advise. I've been looking on craigslist for sometime now and have yet to find a nice machine in my area, so new might be the way i go. Enco's are sold just a...

    Clearcoat over irish linen ?

Chris, I did that once using the slow west system and it completely changed the color from what the customer asked for. If I use a 5 minute epoxy what brand? and also, is there any chance the epoxy will yellow under the clear coat? thanx

    Clearcoat over irish linen ?

I've had some poor luck with this in the past. Irish linen apparently doesn't like being painted. What is a better material to coat over and where can it be found. One color that I am looking for in particular is that loud colored green for a Seattle Seahawk cue. Or even the dark blue. thanx

    bright green veneer

Hawks have changed that color a few times through the years but seeing those two together, i think the green on the right is a closer match. I already have the blue and silver from you. I will contact you tomorrow. thanx bob

What are Full Time Cue Makers doing about Health Care

You see you are a producer. In a government run by those who wish to redistribute wealth, producers are the ones who get punished because they want someone else's vote. It is class warfare. They are stealing our freedom by telling those in their voting block they will get everything for nothing...

    Adventures with clear coat

less than suiteable weather has mostly had me shooting cues through a window opening with the wind blowing paint right back in my face. So i finally broke down and built a booth from plywood. I mounted a squirell cage fan under the box and routed a 5'' pipe to evacuate spray out the back of my...

    Ivory Ferrule - Pro's/Con's

I like ivory as well. However if you are correct on this, i believe you just put predator out of business. If i understand there theory, the 10 pie laminates were to interrupt grain directionality and add strength to the ferrule end so they could hollow the first 5'' and add the strongest...

You are right! After the first negative reply, i thought no one was reading the thread title. The thread sit for several days before anyone would touch it. I was totally surprised to see that the builder chimed in just to more or less say '' i know how but im not tellin. '' The way i took it...

    'Sharp' full splice points

Actually, i have seen one recently with veneers. I can find out where it came from. The forehand piece is probably more tricky than it appears. Obviously the rear piece would have to be perfectly square unless you use the headstock method as does Hightower. I dont believe a sander can clean up...

    'Sharp' full splice points

Full splice points are allways sharp at the front. However.. occasionally you see points that are sharp where they come together at the base as well. How is this possible? I understand the forehand piece... because it just has to be knifed paper thin at the base. But my bandsaw will not cut a...

Is this a good beginning pool cue?

You took the words right out of my mouth. Except add a straight grain shaft. House cues hit more solid than alot of lower end cues. They are after all full spliced. And they also will handle the cannon ball (larger coin op ball) better than alot of cues.
