Not much action there these days, but Amsterdam Billiards in NYC has a section that they literally call "The Pit". It's roped off by brass rails and front and center in the room. They use that area for exhibitions and other high profile matches.

I think it looks that way because when you "throw" it, your hand and cue are moving at the same speed so the butt doesn't slip out of your hand until you near the end of your stroke. I think the general point he's making is that you steer the cue less if you have a very loose grip on the cue.

FWIW, I live in NYC and I get lessons from two coaches. One charges $150 per hour and the other $185. I have no problem with spending my money this way.

Hunter charges ~$200 per hour and I see him giving lessons around the clock.

Mike, are you saying they've been performing at a 680 level over the past three years? If that's the case, shouldn't their ratings be much higher then? It feels like the Fargo algorithm is too sticky and too much of a lagging indicator. Any chance the algorithm gets tweaked to weight past games...

I read it more as taking 4 innings to run a rack, not break and running 1 in 4 times.

Not to mention that Souquet and Django's primes were decades after the era they're talking about. Even their first recorded tournament wins weren't until years after the Color of Money came out.

Ralf and Django still touring and competitive at the highest levels. They should be the favorites.

Seems like that totally defeats the point of the app if they reject scores that actually move the needle on ratings.
