    Thorsten Hohmann

Thorsten is a 793 while Billy is a 778. It's not a big different but Thorsten has a definite edge.

    The Banker is Back!

They also posted a couple mentions of him with an American flag (see attached screenshots).

    The Banker is Back!

What about Thorsten? Became a citizen earlier this year. Also, Matchroom is really pushing the "Atencio is playing under the American flag" angle.

New Room in San Francisco's Mission district called 'The Hall'

It's still open in San Mateo, right? Or is that one unrelated?

New Room in San Francisco's Mission district called 'The Hall'

Seems about right for the location. Still cheaper than Manhattan!

There's a CC group on Facebook that's probably worth posting in.

QATAR WORLD CUP 10 BALL, OCT. 28 to NOV. 2, 2025

Has there ever been a major tournament with that ruleset? I assumed it was a regional NYC thing that Tony Robles evangelized but never took off.

Who cares if you are getting good? Why you do, of course.

I don't think that's true. It seems like in the examples you gave (NFL, NBA, etc), most coaching staff had previously played at a very high level. Coaches like Popovich that never played beyond an HS level are very much the exception rather than the rule. The issue is that in a niche sport like...

QATAR WORLD CUP 10 BALL, OCT. 28 to NOV. 2, 2025

Given the WPA's goal of getting pool into the Olympics, I would be very surprised if they weren't using IOC rules for representation. IOC rules require citizenship, which Fedor does not have yet.

From the 1991 Northern Ten Cities Billiards Invitational (北方十城市台球邀请赛), one of the first organized competitions that included Chinese 8 ball:

    Philippine Open

Is it just me or were there an insane number of "chokes" in this tournament? Duong, De Luna, Bustamante (although he ended up getting the rack), Gorst, Shaw (twice) all missed extremely easy, critical shots on the last two balls and that's just the ones I remember. I feel like there have been...

    MR format racking preferences

I'm a software developer and I already created one in my spare time for fun. I'm too lazy to put it on the app store because I could earn what, like $30 from it? I don't even personally use it because it's just really not an issue in my daily pool life. Edit: here's a link to a much better...

    MR format racking preferences

During the finals of the Seattle Open, Skyler Woodward was very vocally upset about the ref constantly putting the two ball in the back for his opponent. Basically, he was implying that the two in the back is an advantage for the breaker. I was surprised to hear this but I'm obviously not going...

    10-Ball Last Rule

Even the Predator Pro Billiard Series events aren't standardized. The championship events, e.g. the World 10 Ball Championship, spot early 10 balls whereas the regular events, e.g. the Las Vegas Open, count them as wins.

What is the worst roll you have ever seen?

I don't see how anybody says this isn't one of the worst rolls of all time. A ball literally moves off of the table in the middle of the shot, giving the opponent ball in hand on the money ball. It simply doesn't get worse than that. Balls settling and leading to a miss? The cue ball rolling...
