Once I beat a manager of a bar a game of 8b. There were two signs. One said “no last pocket 8-ball.” The other said “no gambling.” So we gamble at 8b. Not too much this was in the 80s. I make the las of my set and go to shoot the 8 ball and he says “last pocket.” Luckily it was bankable...

I don’t even think players should be prohibited to bet on their own matches or against or for their teammates. When I played leagues it was always fun to bet a $20 on your match to make it interesting.

When I was 18 my sister (16) and I did a landscaping job inside Cabrini Green. Just the two of us and a truck. It was scary and people gathered around to watch us work but nobody tried anything. We were lucky. This was 1986.

The owner of 5000 is an avid billiard player and they used to have (mights still?) a 3 cushion tournament on Saturday nights. Every time I've been there there has been players on the billiard tables.

Also, don't sleep on 5000 years Carom billiards on Dempster in Morton Grove. Maps has it at 17 minutes from O'hare. Several billiards tables and a lot of pool tables. It's a great practice room and the equipment is in great condition. Diamond bar tables and several 9' tables.

Just for context my other home is Oakland. Lol. #2. I’ve also lived in Denver, Portland, Phoenix and Atlanta. Atlanta is not on the list but when I lived there it was very dangerous.

It’s funny Patrick, My neighbors in Chicago asked me where I’ve lived that felt the safest. Chicago hands down. They were thinking about moving. I’ve lived in various rural towns and also Atlanta, Wichita, ks, Denver, co, Oakland, ca. Chicago is the safest place I’ve lived.

I hit one longer than 500 yards. Climbed to the top of a 14'er and hit a golf ball off of it. It was 1000 yards away when we lost sight of it. Still going. Like you said. Means nothing.

Mine was delivered Saturday but I won’t be home until tomorrow to check it out. I can’t wait!
