I’m just curious, what is the proper way to care for a tip?

I’m curious why you think the miscues are the tips fault. Is the tip glazed over, holding chalk? I would say 99.999% of my miscues are my fault with the .0001 % being a poorly chalked tip(still my fault).

Just got the shaft back and took a look. Looks like 💯 my error on the last one. The tip pad stayed on so I check out the tip an on a flat surface it had a little rock to it…usually I check for that before I install the tip. Damn it, guess I’m not perfect after all!🤣😳

The first failure was between the tip and the pad. I replaced the pad thinking it may have been the problem and was getting thin anyway. I’ll get the shaft tonight to see where it failed this time.

It’s an Ultraskin ivory…. I’ll check the ferrule closely when I get it back tonight, maybe it’s loose.

Anyone have any trouble putting a tip on a g core shaft? I’ve had 2 pop off. After the first one popped I switched glue(to loctite proffessional) and replaced the .030 fiber tip pad . Got a text today and it came off again. Been doing this more than 20 years and I can only remember 1 other...

In my experience it doesn’t hold up. I burnish with leather…

I just went back and read some of Bluds old posts, I miss seeing him post! I met him in Vegas somewhere around 98,99. Was nice enough in person and had a personality as big as Texas!!!

That’s your opinion. Whoever makes the shafts can decide how they want the taper. IMO, if it’s not at least 4oz. It’s probably not even playable 😳

If someone complains about his hearing aids he could just take them out. They going to make him put the back in? Unless that’s a new pool rule where you have to be able to hear, then the whole thing is ridiculous! I haven’t read the whole thread so maybe this was mentioned before.

I agree, by the time I chuck it up and zero both ends I’d say about $20… that may be high or low but it’s my time and equipment. I know some people wouldn’t bother zeroing both ends because the tap should already follow the threaded hole… I’ll do it my way…

In all seriousness, i try to drag(?)draw the cue to keep it closer to and higher up the rail.

I would follow 2 rails behind the six, then either jump or kick at the 5 and fail miserably 😳

I use a 3.1 oz wood shaft that has a crack under the ferrule and it’s about as dirty as you can get. I do ok…. It’s not shaft/cue!

I make cues when I feel like it and don’t take orders. My day job keeps me busy and pays the bills…

While I agree with most everything you said, I can’t agree with the unlucky scratch comment. I’m no hater but the cueball unfortunately went exactly where he put it. People say this to me sometimes and I say the same thing. Having said that I watched most of 2 of his matches and E plays great!
