I have the exact same Hall of Fame print of Steve, also signed by him. I also have the Hall of Fame prints of Mosconi, Deacon Crane, and Jimmy Caras, all signed by them.
Makes quite a foursome on the wall.
Do keep us posted. The suspense is damn near unbearable.
p.s. Wonder if the Saints will ever make it to the Super Bowl after 40+ years of futility?
That is, before the team leaves for another city. :)
Well, someone must have done some running out on him, because Cowboy Jimmy never did win a major straight pool tournament.
His slip stroke was indeed great.
Stringing together good shot after good shot in golf is WAY more difficult than the same in pool.
I have not read this thread, but has anyone mention the vagaries such as you are dealing with 14 clubs, not 1 stick? (or maybe 2/3, with jumpcue/breakcue)
Anyone mention you are dealing with...
Isn't there an older guy there in Atlanta that knows a lot about pool, fast something or other?
Might want to meet him and have him take you some places. :)
I think a revolver should be the firearm of choice for most people.
Simplicity, less to go wrong, you don't have to remember to rack the slide in an emergency. (unless you already have a round in the chamber of your semi-auto)
Anybody know whatever became of Jr?
Nice fellow and a hell of a pool player.
I enjoyed watching him tangle with the late Earl Heisler at the Sports Palace in New Orleans roughly 20 years ago.
I have this tape packed away somewhere. Bob is a great guy and so was Jersey Red.
Neither of them played well in the match, but Jersey finally won the case game.
Jay,
I most definitely respect your knowledge of the game, but I am surprised you had no place for Irving Crane on your list, especially in straight pool.
Any particular reason why not?
Did you get to be around or see the Deacon much? Any stories about him?

Lassiter, Hall, Strickland, Worst, Mizerak, Greenleaf, and the High Priest of Pocket Apiece, Jersey Red.
but I'm biased. :)
I have basically been out of pool for quite a while, but remember an enjoyable day hanging out in an old-time pool room in Los Angeles circa 1993. I'm trying to recall the name of the room, I just remember parking on the side of the building and going down a flight of stairs to the check-in...
