    RIP - Cesar Morales (Chua)

For those that didn’t hear the news, the real Cesar Morales passed away a couple of days ago. For those that didn’t know who Cesar Morales actually was, here’s a great write up from Anito Kid (Leslie Mapugay) a few years ago. Cesar’s health had been in decline, so those who knew him om the...

Did Adam ever build Karella cues?

No. Despite all the rumors, Pete did not design any of the Karella cues, according to Don.

    Question for old timers@

Ok. Jack is obviously a common nickname for John.

Did Adam ever build Karella cues?

I’ll re-ask on the date as I think he made a mistake. (Edit: he’s now saying early 90’s)

Did Adam ever build Karella cues?

I can see my post is misleading or plain incorrect . Don says he never walked away from Karella.

Did Adam ever build Karella cues?

Closing the loop. Just got off the phone with Don Spetkar. I forgot that I actually have his phone number and have communicated with him a few years ago about something else. Karella Cues were never built in Japan. This cue was an upper end model, built in Taiwan most likely, maybe late...

    Question for old timers@

Maybe I don’t understand.Jack Carr and John Carr were the same person.

Did Adam ever build Karella cues?

Obviously I have to give credit to the people I know that were part of the businesses in question whether it's a worker from Adam back in the 80s/90's or the people involved at the beginning of Karella. I think I said this before, but one of my biggest regrets is that I lived a few miles from...

Did Adam ever build Karella cues?

There’s a bit of timeline to this, Both Pete and Don walked away from this venture when the first batch of cues came. Several years later, Spektar restarted Karella alone. Pete gave permission to continue using the name. The Karella Cue Company were not part of Adam or Competition sports at...

Did Adam ever build Karella cues?

Wipe this from your memory banks. Aside from part of Pete Tascarella’s name makes up Karelia, Pete walked away from that business concept at the very beginning. Don Spektar, owner of Competition Sport, continued the business, working with various mass production builders. Spektar liked the...

What’s the worst cue you’ve ever bought?

I suppose my second Meucci Cue in the early 90’s is in contention. Inlays popped, points popped, and the butt cap fell off. I played with that cue for about 10 years and won about 50 tournaments. I also had a Maximum by Meucci that the shaft warped. You could actually see the minor knot in...

Oops I did it again (Yapp's) foul in a final, a second time!

His shot at 4:00 he says is a foul, but it looked good to me (edit: looks like a bad hit on further review). He isn't talking about tangents but rather full hits on the 2nd ball. So, this is a good analysis.

Oops I did it again (Yapp's) foul in a final, a second time!

I'll be clearer. I've seen just as many slow mo videos as anyone else. There is at least one video that it isn't clear at all if the 4-ball was hit first, and it looks like the 8-ball may have been hit first in that video. We literally cannot see the contact point since it's on the other side...

Oops I did it again (Yapp's) foul in a final, a second time!

I put up what he said on why he reacted that way. He did think it was good, but knew it was close. He was just waiting for the ref.

Oops I did it again (Yapp's) foul in a final, a second time!

So, I thought it was a foul immediately, but now I am not sure. In fact, I've convinced myself that it's a good hit. This is the top view. If the 8-ball is hit last, the immediate motion off the 8-ball would have to follow the tangent line toward the brown area near the side pocket or it...

    Break Stats -- 2026 World 8-Ball Championship, April 2026

I know it doesn't seem to be the popular opinion, but 8-ball is my favorite game to do commentary. And I know it sounds bold, but top amateur players know better how to play 8-ball better than the pros. The pros execute so well that clear mistake in pattern play and percentage play are masked...

    Playing Pool after 50?

I was playing my best pool at 40. I was playing some of my worst pool when I was 50. But, that was mostly because my battle with the yips. That said, the challenges are at 59... my back and my eyes. So, I've been working out my core more, so that helps with the back. But there are still...
