I guess Martino Cues is getting out of collecting.

Don't recall ever seeing this thread before today. Thanks for your concerns. Yes, I'm still on this side of the grass and life is good. Hope all is well with all my friends in the cue community. Flunked retirement - again - and bought a tool shop that makes plastic and rubbermolds. A log...

New Josswest: Absolutely LLLLoaded with silver.

Jim, There's only one way to describe these cues. "Simple elegance". You may want to consider having the other cue makers you respect make cues using the same basic materials, ebony, snake wood, silver and ivory. It would make for a beautiful collection. Regards, Tony

You're comments about the quality of the pictures is absolutely correct. There is a great deal of time required to get the initial quantity of pictures up on the site and close-ups will be forthcoming. Stay tuned and we'll try to get the close-ups on the site as soon as possible. In the...

    How to Weigh a Cue

[COLOR="Red"]Two things. 1. I've seen people forget and weigh cues with the shaft and joint protectors on. 2. I found a good digital scale at Office Max that has both grams and ounces for less than $30.00Two comments.

    Update on the "Schmidt List"

This post is for John. I was too late to get in as a backer but in the future, I certainly don't want to cut out any of those who did back you but if and when you need a backer or any portion thereof, please pm me.

Valley Forge Update As Of Sat. Night

Little Jon is a trip!!! More amazing than Little Joh is his horse, Tony Watson. I never saw a player so wired never miss a ball. I think he had a beer for every game he won in the challenges. He had a run that had to be an $8,00 to $10,000 run and just kept hollering at Little Jon that he...

One of the 3 pieces of slate is off level.

I just re-read my last post and have two things to add. After applying the plaster of Paris, it has to be sanded smooth with a flat sanding block using paper that is around 180 grit. Also, it looks like you are ready to abandong the clothe anyway since you're talking about using Simonis.

One of the 3 pieces of slate is off level.

You're correct. The first thing you have to do is to get the cloth off and see what's going on. A lot depends on how much the slate is off. If it's off just a fraction, in time you will see a line where the slate comes together that is result of the balls rolling over the edges. This could...

    What Should I Do???

Without seeing the damage, it's hard to tell what to do. But whatever you do, DON'T DO IT YOURSELF. You could make it worse than it is if you are not experienced. Take it to any reputable cue maker. They'll tell you what to do and what options you have.

Hanging a pool table light from a concrete ceiling

One of the things that I've always tried to do when I was hanging something is to not just hang it by using anchors. What I generally do is to take a piece of 1" x 4" of 1" x6" and use lags to hold the wood to the ceiling. In addition to lag bolts, I spread Liquid Nail to the back side of the...

    Disaster!!!!!!!!!

If you haven't put the rails back on yet, you should be able to stretch the bubble out. It's hard to tell when you say the bubble is "inside the lip" exactly where it's at but when stretching cloth, at times you have to make slits about 1" from the spot you're trying to stretch in order to...
