USPPA Reno players, did they get paid?

Not a good sign Stopped by the Two Cushion a couple of weeks ago and it was closed up tight at 1 PM....Used to open at 12 on the dot. Stopped by there yesterday around 1:30 and closed up again. Last two times I was in there Tony was running it all by himself. Looks like Jeff bailed. Too bad. It...

Just got my cue back from McDermott :)

I bought a d-21 cue when it was new and the string wrap came loose so I had McDermott put on a leather wrap about ten years ago. Perfect job and the cue is just like new today.

    Mosconi's run

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, But I believe that Mosconi traveled all over the country putting on exhibitions while representing Brunswick Billiards. Part of the show was a guaranteed run of at least 100 during the show. I have a problem seeing any of the players today matching that. You...

USPPA Reno players, did they get paid?

Tony's money... I suspect that it's time to give this conversation a rest. Tony has no money. He got in over his head and put on a tournament hoping to get more than 100 players. Do the math. No way he could match the payouts. All he has now are some old collector type pool tables and a run...

USPPA Reno players, did they get paid?

This place is in Fairfield Ca. It was a pool hall before and went under. Tony ended up reopening with a new backer. New place was ,is, called Two Cushion Club. I think the Monterey place went out of business a while back.

USPPA Reno players, did they get paid?

Two Cushion Club has not been around since 1995. I don't think that Tony's partner is involved in any of his dealings. The Reno mess seems to be Tony's action. I do know that they are trying to get a beer/wine lic. and improve the cash flow in the place.

    World Record: 526 balls

#526 Once again, people are doing their best to discredit Mosconi. I had the pleasure to meet him a few times and he was a real class act. What he couldn't stand was the degradation of the wonderful sport that he dedicated his life to improve. He grew up with the hustlers and bums and wanted...

    Willie Mosconi

Mosconi I saw Mosconi shoot an exhibition at a Vet's Hospital while he was under contract with Brunswick. He was a class act the whole time. Great guy. Just wanted people to see what a wonderful game pool can be when played correctly. I understand that his contract was a 100 ball run during the...

USPPA Reno players, did they get paid?

Does not make sense to me What am I missing with this whole discussion? $100 entry fee. 100 players. $8,000 first place...$5000 second place.. lots of payouts down the line to $100 per player? Do people pay to watch these matches? Does the hotel pay extra to have the event there? Who pays for...

    Mosconi 526

Mosconi's Run Thanks Jay. I have been saying for years that an 8' table is harder than a 9' table for 14.1 pool. Balls go to the rail and then back to the stack and there is no shot. If anyone out there thinks Mosconi's run is not hard just throw 15 balls out on the table and shoot them all in...

    Balabushka Cues

What is the big deal with these cues? Take an old Willie Hoppe or Titliest cue and add some inlays and there you are. I know Paul Newman made them famous in the movies but can anyone say they are on par with a Southwest, or any other of the cues made now. I have a bunch of Hoppe's and they play...

    Mosconi stuff

I get a kick out of all the Mosconi stories and how he could or could not play great pool. Let me add mine. I was on leave from the service in the mid '60's and Mosconi was at the Vet's home in Yountville, Cal for Brunswick. My mother worked there. He played a man , Sam Chang, for the show. He...

Should I have been BARRED FOR LIFE here?

kicked out and dumb You should of said to your pigeon that you would catch the table time this time around, and walked away with a little money in your pocket. Next time you met, he would love to play some more, maybe even for a little more money. You gotta feed the pigeons now and then or they...
