Cue wobbles when together, but not apart...

Thanks for your response, and sorry for the late reply - it's been a hell of a week... There's no apparent dirt on the contact surfaces at the joint - I even rubbed it with a scotch brite pad, just in case, and it still wobbles. I guess I'll wait for Chris Byrne to get back and town and take it...

Cue wobbles when together, but not apart...

It just occurred to me that you might need to know something more about the joint... The cue is a J Pechauer JP-01 with what I think must be a Duralite joint, based on the J pechauer website: http://www.pechauer.com/article.php?article_id=5 Here's the page for the cue...

Cue wobbles when together, but not apart...

I just bought a cue (via mail) that wobbles when I roll it, but only when it's together - the butt and shaft roll fine apart. I'm assuming this has something to do with the joint itself (?). I'm wondering what could be causing it, and about how much it might cost to fix it... There is no...

Wanted - decent cue on a budget

Thanks to everybody who sent posts and PMs - I had no idea there would be so much to choose from in my price range! :) I've decided to go with a J Pechauer with specs similar to the Huebler - from the reviews in the cue reviews forum, I think I will not be disappointed. I'm pretty sure I've...

    Huebler ID and repair question

Quick update - I took the cue to Chris Byrne in Denver (great guy - thanks for recommending him!). The cue has more problems than were immediately apparent to my untrained eye - the crack in the joint collar extends slightly into the wood, and there is a matching crack in the shaft collar that...

    Huebler ID and repair question

Thanks manwon for the correction! :) And also for info about the cue - especially about the years it might have been made.

    Huebler ID and repair question

Nevermind about the ID - I finally found it on the web: http://members.tripod.com/~BilliardWarehouse/ase1-6.jpg AS-E1, approx $135-160 new The linen wrap on mine is a different color, but otherwise it looks identical.

    Huebler ID and repair question

You all are so helpful and very nice - thanks for the warm welcome and good information. :) I'm weighing staying local (Chris Byrne, ~1 hr from my house) versus original parts... any opinions on this? Also, does anybody have any ideas on what year (or range of years) my cue might have been...

    Huebler ID and repair question

[update posted at end of thread] I have a Huebler with a crack in the joint collar (I misspoke earlier by calling it the butt collar... so much to learn!). I'm wondering about how much it should cost to repair, what kind of Huebler I have (model, age, what kind of wood,...), and about how much...
