    Question about table time

What happened to the good ole days. When I started playing it cost a nickel a cue and they racked the balls. My buds and I played rotation because it lasted longer. The owners looked the other on the eighteen and under law which was seldom enforced. I used to play golf on the snooker table...

    Question About Tip Replacement

I use an exacto knife with the larger blade, and use the smaller blade to score the back of the tip. Gotta be careful though! I only put tips on my own cues.

Wearing a suit while playing pool...

I have some tapes of legends playing from the 1980's when tuxe's were still de rigueur. When "Wimpy" tugs at his collar before each shot I can almost feel the pain. He could still shoot the lights out in formal attire!

Smoking and playing pool...or lack of!

I quit smoking over 30 years ago. I struggled with it and relapsed a couple of times, but eventually I was able to make it stick. I feel like I'm reaping the benefits of that decision now. Stay the course, you can do it! Pool is a great way to keep your hands busy. Much tougher if you're...

Just Wanted to Introduce Myself and Say Hello

I'm going to jump into an Indiana Jones'ed thread to say that I am a true crime buff with one mell of a collection. Oh yea, I just got some rep today, and I appreciate it although I didn't offer anything outstanding, but hopefully it gave a few folks a chuckle.

Another Shaft thread "Shut your mouth"

I got an old eighties McD which hits great with the original shaft, but I'd like to try a G-Force shaft. I see them advertised on E-bay for less than MSRP, and I'm wondering if these are the kind that won't be concentric with my butt, or can I order one and feel safe in getting what I want...

    Breaking Critique

When the wing ball on the side I'm breaking from goes in, and the one and cue behave I'm happy as a clam; anything else is gravy. I find this happens most often when the rack is hit with a little low just off of solid to the side your'e breaking from. If the cue flies up I know I'm out of...

No matter how well YOU play, your losing opponent says, "I played so bad!"

Should be music to your ears. On the rare occasions when I've played good enough to make someone say they played bad, I try to be agreeable and say "yeah and you got some bad rolls", or "well I got some good rolls".

To play or not to play.........

If the first guy is a Purdue alumnus, and his first name is Nick you might want to decline the game. Rusty is a setup for improvement on the fly if needed.

What have people been flat out wrong about?

Back in the day; if u wanted to learn how to shoot pool all u had to do was listen to the guys who became a font of knowledge when a woman was playing.

How to carry a cue case on a motorcycle?

I have a 1975 Honda CB-550. It has the old school passenger back rest (un-pcly referred to as a "sissy bar" back in the day). You can strap almost anything to that puppy.

    Why do people become backers?

Sometimes the backer can play better than the horse, which can lead to some profitable situations.

Who is the best Staker/Backer in the country?

Social Security, but you don't need to win money if you get a check sent to you every month.

    Is playing safe ever cheap?

I've always thought that playing safe meant not doing anything to make your opponent want to kick your azz! Your move, while legal prolly cost you at least a fifth of Jack!

    Somebody explain how sidebets work?

Road man can play local fav, lose for awhile, work up side action, take money back from local fav while fleecing railbirds. This can also be done in collusion. Caveat emptor when you bet on a game someone else is playing.
