Eureka.. What has helped my game more than anything else..

I wish all the ideas here would penetrate a friend of mine. He is a pretty good shooter, but his problem is that he thinks he is better than he actually is. It does, at times, screw up his game. He is not one to take advice so I just throw the hints at him and hope some sink in. :D

    Pros make it look easy

Practice Deadstroke: I enjoyed your replyto the above post. After a few years of playing league 8 and 9 ball (APA) I woke up one day and decided I did not want to do that any more. I got tired of the drunks, the noise, people rolling around the floor and rules that were rarely enforced. Also...

Is it true that Viking went under? I have a Viking and like it. Also heard Player went under. These are rumors, but I would like the real story.

Thank you all for your input. I will try to get a balance going that he may not be happy with. If so, shame on him.

    Long Bank Shots

I am having a problem with making the long bank shot. I must be doing something wrong because the shot is becoming a mind over matter problem. I have played with the diamonds and the angles to no avail. I am now getting  PS: I play mostly on 7 ft tables.

    coach

How do you get an over zealous coach to back down (off) because he is annoying some of the team players who are doing well on their own and being interrupted just throws their game off. The captain says nothing. I don't want to create problems here, just harmony. He means well but does not...

    The Same Old Banger Scenario.

You have gotten some good advice here but it lacks one thing. You are obsessed with winning and it is effecting your game. Until you come to terms with it and realize that winning all the time is not an option in any sport you will defeat yourself every time. You have the mechanics, now adjust...

Can someone explain why my eyes deceive me like this? (draw shot)

Measureman is the winner in the draw debate. he is the only one who mentions the fact that he uses a nice "follow through" on the draw shot. one really only needs to hit the cb about one tip below the equator witha nice follow through. This is all part and particle of a good stroke.

How many pool halls went under with fresh cloth and equipment?

We can blame the ecconomy, poorly kept pool halls and evrything else in between. But lets be honest here, the sport is dying because of lack of interest by the present generation and the new one coming up. Without customers there is no income and without income there is no bills being paid. I...

    Tip & Shaft Maintenance?

In a pinch if you are out just reach into your pocket and grab your:( paper money to clean and smooth the shaft. The paper money is like a 2000 grit sandpaper.

How to keep your thoughts straight when in a high pressure game?

It happens all the time. A fighter moves the wrong way, a quarterback makes the wrong pass, pitcher throws a fast ball instead of what his mind was thinking and so on and so on. Even the best is not perfect, it is human nature. There is only one perfect entity and I 'm not even sure about him...

Bar Table • Heavy Cue Balls • Pool Tips •

On a 9ft table you have a lot of space to work with so when you get on a bar table there seems to be more tight clutter to work around. And of course the heavier CB requires some adjustments also.

    confidence question

I can relate to both the problem and the solutions. I recognize that I have lost confidence in my stroke which is putting me in the lost column in the competitive arena. Lose confidence in the stroke and one loses confidence in his/her game. I did get some tips from an BCA instructor so it is...

    Epiphany needed

I went to Borders and while feasting on a White chocolate mocha with whipped cream and chocolate shavings and oatmeal cookie I reviewed the tennis book. I ended up buying it and will read it. I will also review the other one when I finish the tennis book. Thanks for the recos. I anticipate...

    Quitting while your ahead.

I agree with Scott. Where does it say in any bible ,book or tablet that you have to give the loser a chance to win back his money? If that is the case what is the sense of gambling? It does not make sense. If one gambles and loses his money in pool or cards or anything else he should be happy...

how do you prefer to jump?

Never mastered the shot, and quite frankly, gave up trying. Even bought a Player b/j cue which now serves as a break cue only. :banghead::crying:
