Yapp’s Controversial Tournament-Winning Shot in the 8-Ball World Championship … Was it a Foul?

Those here saying cameras should be added might not have watched Dr Dave’s video. In many instances, a “regular” camera’s frame rate is insufficient to capture the instant of a hit. Often Dr experienced the hit happening between frames. It is likely not feasible to install super-high speed...

How to Judge SPLIT HITS … Everything You Need to Know

Interesting that in your frozen ball/simultaneous hit scenario, whichever ball was hit first raced out of frame first, without exception. And the sibgle hit where you pretty much managed the nearly impossible actual simultaneous hit, the balls left the frame as a tie. So it’s possible that...

    Live Streams?

Not competition per se, but Bob Keller has excellent content of straight pool. He does “Rack of the Week” videos ( numbering now somewhere in the 265+ range) where he narrates strategies for the out. He also has numerous century, max run attempts (“Road to 200”) and ghost challenges. On top...

    How Many of You...

I tried one of those holders with a very powerful magnet. I would literally drag metal bar stools with me as I went past them if I got too close to them. Annoying AF. I use a chalk holder on a stick. Works great.

    Drills to correct your alignment

Check your alignment and your ability to see the placement of the tip on the CB, and how straight you stroke: Place the CB on the foot spot where racks are spotted. Freeze an OB on the head short rail exactly in the center. Some tables might have a brand logo there; some a diamond. If a logo...

    Funny pic/gif thread...

Oh, god, did I open the wrong thread? I could swear (to god) I opened “Funny pic/gif thread.”

    Give me a break

@chuckg, How many different CB break positions and break speeds did you try?

Are any of the parts inside the pocket part of the rail?

So the ball is pocketed then comes out? And you’re asking because someone might claim a foul because nothing hit a rail, right? Christ on a Bike!

More Early Impressions Of The Diamond Professional

When we say a table is faster than another, I can think of only two reasons: The cloth and the cushions. New cloth is usually faster, and of course the type/brand is important. That’s not a function of “it being a Diamond”, is it? Cushion rebound characteristics influence how much speed is...

    Extension Adapter

Ok. Thanks for the info. 👍 I will ask my local cue maker if he can fashion something for me. (He made my custom cue for which the extension in the photos fits.)

    Extension Adapter

Thanks but I have no tools to make such a thing. I was hoping there would be off-the-shelf pieces that would work. Edit: I play. I am not a cue maker. 😀

    Extension Adapter

Apologies if this has been recently asked (I sorta remember a thread about this but I can't find it.) What parts would I need to fashion an adapter for cues with the butt bumper attached to the butt via the weight bolt? I have a series of cues (Adam, Orchid, and Helmstetter) that all seem to...

Nice. It may not be obvious but flexible square chalk holders reliably hang onto round Taom V10.

Another stupid thread from me: golf is harder than pool

Kinda like playing a safety, eh? Lol

Another stupid thread from me: golf is harder than pool

I am not a golfer. I tried it many years ago and decided it wasn’t for me. I am watching The Masters. I have previously thought that golf is inherently harder and crueler than pool. And pool can be pretty darned cruel: the rattle leaving the $ ball in the pocket; the roll that lands 1/4” too...

Oops I did it again (Yapp's) foul in a final, a second time!

Try explaining that to an APA 3 and his/her captain. ("And that's when the argument started.")

Could straight pool thrive with a gimmick format?

Interesting idea. In general I don’t like the idea of time limits but with a progressively shorter shot clock it might work avoiding slow walking if a player is far ahead. But one of the cool things about 14.1 is like baseball: you can be down 124-0 and still win with a 125-ball run. Well...

What chalk are you using on your phenolic tips?

I found my V10 doesn’t stick well on my phenolic tip. Plain ol’ Masters for my break and jump cues works better.

Mighty x drill leaving mark on cloth

I have very visible lines from the X drill. I can get them to almost disappear by concentrated vacuuming with a ShopVac. I have had zero issues vacuuming my cloth. It’s 860 I have for decades. Simonis is damned robust.
