I just bought one of the J&J cues on ebay for 50 bucks. It has the phenonic tip. Just came yesterday. Still working with it. Just wondering, do I need to do anything with the phenonic tip, such as try to shape it or what, do I just shoot with some chaulk?

Thanks for the info, Mark. Why the carbon pad under the tip? I assume the Stratos tip is a hard leather tip. I can see not spending a lot of money on a breaker. Thanks again, Ray

Another question: Been surfing the internet for break cues and just wondering why most of the break/jump cues break down into 3 parts? Ray:confused:

The phenolic tip, how does it work? I mean, I assume you chalk it, but do you care for it like a leather tip like you rough it up or keep it nickle shaped, or is it too hard to need shaping? BTW, thanks to all for the answers. Now I feel informed. Ray:thumbup:

I'm just wondering what is the difference is between your usual cue and a break cue. I can see maybe it being a little heavier and a harder tip, but is there any really any reason for not using your usual cue for a break? Ray in Dallas:)

My rack spot was starting to curl up at bit, so I pulled it off, really intending not to put a new spot down. But there is now a round layer of adhesive on the cloth. I was thinking a little bit of lighter fluid on a rag would get rid of the glue, but thought I would check in to see if this...

Not a bad idea. I played many a game of nine ball with my old man (God rest his soul), with these same balls. The table has moved a 1000 miles, but it is still his table and will pass it on to my son.:thumbup:

Thanks for the responses....... I did buy a set of new Brunswick Centennials. They don't roll off the spot like the last set. Anybody want to buy a slightly off rounded set of 30+year old Brunswick balls?????????????? Ray in Dallas:)

Here are a couple of pictures. They look like normal balls to me, but what do I know. I do know that they are the orginal balls that came with the Brunswick Heirloom, probably about 1975 or so. It is my Dad's table. I hope this works, not much of a computer nerd.

Thanks for the quick response to a newbie...... I was just looking at the one ball. The ring around the number is not raised. I can feel the number is raised slightly when I run my finger over it. The one ball does have some small pits in it, maybe 10-15 of the things. I really haven't...

I got a 1970's, early 80's Brunswick table. The balls came with the table. Just wondering if these 30 year old balls need to be changed out. Ray, in Texas
