    105 Collegiate Players....This is Good

Last year was the largest turnout in the history of ACUI collegiate 9-ball championships. Hopefully this year is just as good. I'd say who I am on the list, but my screen name isn't a very good alias.

    What's your pool hustler name?

Skinny Stick McGee ...oh sweet jesus I can never be seen in public again.

    Engineers get to work!

One important thing to remember here is the length of time it would take to play one game. Even placing the balls quickly (likely meaning decreased discrimination in location) a game involving several safeties and/or missed shots could take quite some time to play. Now I don't know about...

    Engineers get to work!

Have very special balls made. They will contain an antenna and transmitter set, and a piezoelectric sensor. A radio transmitter in the room will send signals to the balls. Each ball will receive the signal and emit its' own frequency. The signals will then be received by several antennas at...

    My stroke. Ten foot snooker

I took your advice for a tournament last night Neil, and wow. My game felt just like it did a year and a half ago when I was playing my best. It took me back to before I got so obsessed with shooting perfectly that I got in my own way. I don't know if my stroke was straight or not, but it...

    My stroke. Ten foot snooker

I look at the object ball just as I begin my final backstroke. I hadn't noticed how far forward I was holding my cue, so I've been working on holding further back, it feels nice. While practicing tonight I realized just how much my stroke has changed over the last several months. Although my...

    My stroke. Ten foot snooker

Thanks for the posts guys, I appreciate your taking the time to make them. Randy, when I established my pre-shot routine a while back I focused on the object ball upon contact, so I assume it's probably still the same. Neil, when I initially shot the 6 I knew pocketing it was very unlikely at...

    My stroke. Ten foot snooker

Here's a little clip of me playing some ten ball on a ten foot snooker table with normal size ball set. So keep that in mind when I miss a couple dumb shots . Just wanted to see if anyone could see anything wrong with my stroke or form here. Granted, I play a bit differently here...

Where's all the talk about moving to 10' tables?

Man I would love to have a Diamond 10ft here in Utah. I play a lot on a 10ft snooker and a converted Brunswick. To have tournament play on big tables would be a dream.

Not to be Captain Obvious, but...

My opinion may be biased since I first started on 8 footers, but I think they're the easiest as well. I played on a freshly felted 9' a while back and maybe ran 6 or 7 racks that night. A few days later I played on a freshly felted 8' and I broke and ran 18 racks of nine ball in the same...

    Barbox players....Quarters or Green Fee?

I played a bar table tourney where we payed quarters. Never again. Something is wrong when you pay $100 entry and almost $80 in quarters and finish a ways out of the money.

    how hard is it

I quit for a month, it was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. :( But now I'm back and my future in pool looks brighter than ever.

    Pool has a "FATAL FLAW"

Why is the author quoting himself? You're not coining a new term here, just say "The fatal flaw of pool is..." You don't have to repeatedly type "FATAL FLAW". About the tenth time I read "FATAL FLAW" I decided no matter the content of the thread the torture was not worth it. That was the...

    So Alex is next?

These kinds of threads remind me of elementary school... You know. The classic my dad can beat up your dad disagreements. Or who is stronger, the hulk or superman? The funny thing is, if you replace "Earl" and "Alex" with "Hulk" and "Superman" in the comments they sound just as juvenile.

Earl trying to get into a parking lot fistfight.

Personally I don't see the big deal with the deaf comment. I don't believe it was in poor taste at all. Directing the comment at the crowd and directing the comment at Shane are two different things. Would anyone rather he told the crowd to shut the f@ck up? That would sure be in better taste.

The most embarrassing shot in pool

Probably done all of these, but the worst 2 I've SEEN are... Watched a hometown hero playing for $300 a game last pocket 8. He makes a simple shot and gets a straight in 12 inch shot for the 8 in the correct pocket. Miscues, doesn't even touch the 8. My favorite, watched a guy in a...

    TV balls and synathesia

Oh my god, that's one of the most hilarious things I've heard.

    TV balls and synathesia

lol nice. One more thing, the example of the car color reminding you of the ball color and thus the ball number as well does not qualify as a form of synesthesia. In a synesthete an elicited phantom sensation is invariably paired with a discrete stimulus. The example provided is just memory...

    TV balls and synathesia

Sorry, I'm critical when it comes to spelling, "synesthesia". Synesthesia comes in many different types and can link virtually any of the senses. The example you gave of the code breakers is called color-grapheme synesthesia. As an example, some can see sound, feel taste, etc.

Going from 9' to bar box problem

I have had issues when I go from 9's to 7's as well. One thing that has helped me is adjusting my bridge to fit the table a bit. My natural bridge is about 12" with a long stroke. When I get on a small table I cut my bridge and stroke down a bit. It seems like that helps my speed control and...
