    Stripes or Solids

Just wondering what most folks use to make a decision between stripes and solids in 8 ball. I've gone from: easiest opening shot TO most open balls TO least "difficult" balls TO least balls without an open pocket. Now I'm hearing the most important thing is the best key ball to get on...

    Started my Zero-X Boot Camp

Oh man - that's discipline! Every time I get going on stroke drills that I KNOW will help my fundamentals and performance, I get really, really bored and start playing the ghost or something like that. Keep it up!

Wait for the other guy to lag before you do guy

I think this is the proper reaction. I need to focus on my own execution regardless of what the other guy does.

Wait for the other guy to lag before you do guy

We play lots of different guys in our 8 ball league so the lags are not memorable, but I'm finally picking up on a guy who seems to always wait for you to lag first before lagging himself. It's not exaggerative in that I think he lags before my ball hits the end rail, but it's now bugging the...

POOL on TV Alert: ESPN2 this Sunday April 13th

Ugh! Ok - I'm happy pool of some sort is on TV, but I don't have any understanding to the allure of trick shot pool. It does nothing for me. Am I alone?

    Solitary practice game for safeties?

Thanks Bob! I like it a lot. I think I'm going to apply nafe to playing the ghost and run out or lose the game or I can pick an arbitrary minimum of points per game. I can never talk buddies into playing games like this. They always want to play 8 or 9 ball and that's it.

    Solitary practice game for safeties?

I really need to learn safeties. After my opponent beat me he re-laid the balls on the table and suggested that I should have played a safety instead of taking a really tough offensive shot. It was 8 ball and I had 6 balls on the table versus his 3. Obviously I had a bunch of blocker balls...

Question about table sizes to practice on.

Get the 7 footer! I have a 7 footer in my basement. My predicament is a little bit different because I could have gotten an 8 footer down there, but I would have to switch to shortie cues on two tight spots and I don't have the tolerance for that. Having that table in my basement is one of...

Do you play to your faults?

Beginner level player here. I noticed last night that if I hit a shot with dead straight aim, the object ball will go slightly to the left. I played to that fault the rest of the night with confidence, cheating a bit to the right to see the ball go a little left as expected. My question is...

Fun game for party with non-pool players

Around 12-15 guests / 6-8 players. I'm guessing a few will just not want to play.

Fun game for party with non-pool players

I'm having a party on Saturday with a bunch of non-pool playing folks. What's the best game to play where everyone can have fun? My latest thought is to play 14:1, and let everyone just take turns to see who can get the highest run. Breaks would be a free shot b/c no one is going to know how...

Tip Replacement - DIY or Professional?

I'm leaning toward the pro route, although I may try it myself on some of my crappy cues just for the learning.

Tip Replacement - DIY or Professional?

No lathe:frown: In fact, I don't have any tools. I would have to invest if it's worth it.

Tip Replacement - DIY or Professional?

An instructor took a look at my cue tip the other day and said it looked like it needed to be replaced. I've had the same tip / cue for over 5 years, but haven't played regularly until I got a table a year ago. I plan on wearing the tip out more regularly, so I'm wondering if replacing the tip...

    Most Watched Players

Absolutely Agree!!! I'm a guy, but I copy a lot of what Allison does. She's technically sound in everything stroke and she also carries herself well after bad shots or losses. Two things I find myself doing after watching her a lot is staying down on the shot until the ball drops and also a...
