VEPS Series / Dr. Dave and Tom Ross

Dr. Dave, Ralph Kramden is mentioning about Disc II: I do wish the camera on the OB hangers (shots 306 thru 318) would have shown more of the ball in the pocket jaws. Any comments? Did you fix it by rerecording? Thanks.

    New player needs a cue

You should take a look at SEYBERTS - there are many cues under $200 - and maybe talk with their people. For under $200 probably a Lucasi is OK because offers guarantee including warpage.

Jacoby Hybrid Edge or Predator Z shaft?

AS LD shafts of 12.75 compared as deflection, quality and feel, I agree with twal - EDGE seems to be the first choice. I feel that SS360 and OB Classic are next, than 314-2 of Predator.

    Lucasi cues

I had Predator and sold them. Overpriced for what they are, big hype and made in China. Better deals for the money, if looking for LD shafts, are OB cues made in USA and I consider them better quality than Predator. Good prices at Seyberts for OB 2012 cue line...

anybody tried one of the OB cues yet?

The OB shafts are very good (not the best...), but I don't know about OB cues - I'm not interested in their cues because all my equipment is uni-loc and they use only the cheaper 3/8 x 10.

    Predator Z2 shaft

Is not a good idea to convert, high risk to lower the shaft's quality.

    Break velocity

Meharis, the cue's weight and the tip are important, too - lighter cue equal more speed when breaking. Same effect a harder tip. Please read here - about break http://billiards.colostate.edu/threads/break.html - about cue and cue weight http://billiards.colostate.edu/threads/cue.html...

    Practice

It helps Practice aids are helpful. A cheap and useful aid is Buddy Hall Cue Guide ($7.95 at Seyberts). It really helps. Some reading is also helpful. A useful book presenting QUICK FIXES for various aspects related to the game, including fundamentals(stance, alignment, bridge, grip, swing...

in market for a new jump cue

Please keep in mind that reality and advertising about cues are 2 different worlds. A break/jump cue will never offer the best of both. I'll not go in details why. As a jump cue, out of all alternatives, PECHAUER is the top choice as jump cue. BUNJEE and other like that are not in the same...

    Break shafts

Which are the 3 best break shafts? Is there any difference in using a break shaft on the original break cue butt and using it on a playing cue butt? If yes, please explain. Thanks for your help.
