Aramith 100-Year Anniversary set - now an AAR thread

Mine were stored upside down. That’s how they were handed to me. Try giving them a little shake while they are inverted. I just shook mine to double-check before I posted this.

Aramith 100-Year Anniversary set - now an AAR thread

In my first post, I did imply that I wasn’t going to use this set and intended to buy a second set to actually play with.

Aramith 100-Year Anniversary set - now an AAR thread

Well, to be more precise, there is not enough cushioning. There are individual "cups" inside like you described, but there is not enough distance between each of the balls and the wooden box to prevent contact with very little shaking. There is a thin piece of foam on top of the balls, but it...

Aramith 100-Year Anniversary set - now an AAR thread

This 6-ball was the worst ball from the first set. You can see a series of spots around the left side to the top-left and left of the reflection of the front door. There were still many more spots on this ball, but this is about the best that I can get them to show up. Please keep in mind that...

Aramith 100-Year Anniversary set - now an AAR thread

AAR: I got to break the seal on a brand new set. There were the exact same kind of spots on some of these balls as there were on the first set. The good news is that they were nowhere near as numerous on the balls that I inspected nor were they as prominent. One thing that I think caused the...

I did refuse them, but I took pictures of them at the first time that I viewed them. I hope that clears up any confusion.

Aramith 100-Year Anniversary set - now an AAR thread

No, it wasn't - not in the grand scheme of things. It was just that I had 12 hours between my post and when I was going to pick up the new set. I just wanted some immediate feedback and hopefully those who had some experience would chime in within that 12-hour time frame. I certainly did not...

Aramith 100-Year Anniversary set - now an AAR thread

I did ask him why they weren't sealed, but he didn't know why. His Houston store had 3 sets in stock. They sent him the one that had been opened for display. I mentioned earlier that I had been waiting for a year. Well, the biggest reason for that wait was that he had totally forgotten about...

Aramith 100-Year Anniversary set - now an AAR thread

I tried taking multiple pictures, but the spots don’t show up, or they don’t show due to the glare of overhead lighting and/or focus issues. The imperfections are like fuzzy, round, milky dots. If I can post pictures, I’ll try to post the best pic of the worst ball. Thank you for your input!

Aramith 100-Year Anniversary set - now an AAR thread

About 2 months ago, my local billiard retailer got a new set of Aramith 100s in for me. I had waited almost a year for them. They were not sealed when they arrived at the store. When I closely examined them, there were very small milky-looking spots on at least 6 of the balls. The spots were...

Aramith 100 new ball set out tomorrow

I do wish that the 4/12 ball would be more purple (less blue) and the 3/10 ball a different shade of red (more red, less orange?). Maybe it's just the lighting in the pictures. I know that I will get at least one set. It won't be played with though. I would be very interested in buying extra cue...

Aramith 100 new ball set out tomorrow

Did anything happen at the end of the countdown this morning? All I got was an e-mail with a link to pictures that were already on the webpage before the countdown ended.

Sold Vintage Hyatt Bicentennial Pool Ball Set

I own three sets of these. You are correct about the cue ball not being original to your set. It has the outline of a Liberty Bell with the dates 1776 and 1976 above and below the bell, respectively. A lot of the value of the set is placed on the cue ball itself. At least, it would be if you...

    Wimpys Elkins WV

I just found this thread... I remember going there primarily to play pool, but the hamburgers and hot dogs were very good. I had some friends in Elkins and Valley Bend that I would visit, and I would play pool while I was in town. IIRC this was in the mid-to-late 1980s.

Well, another month has gone by, and I've received the October issues of my Billiards Digest and Pool & Billiards magazines. So another missing issue of Inside Pool goes undelivered.
