I usually feel like a jerk for leaving before my team is done playing but it's tough, I'm an undergraduate in college and our match usually isn't over before 10:30pm, but I always have work the next day from 10-12, class from 12-3, and work again from 4-10, so I have no time to get any homework...

I actually do the exact opposite of preparation. I play almost every day (I work at a poolhall), so when I get into a slump I usually take a few days off. I think you need to rest your mind once in a while and come back to the table with fresh eyes sometimes.
