    Nobody watches pool?

What exactly is a "view"? How long does it take for a "view" to be counted? Someone just taking a quick look out of curiosity then moving on or someone that went there and viewed the whole thing or really watched it for a half an hour or so with real interest? A lot of views or looks may not...

    70s/80s Era Questions

One night at the Name of the Game Tavern, a couple of us watched Dick and Mike Collins play for money. Dick was a pretty good run out kind of player and Mike was a maniac about riding the nine. We watched for a couple hours or more as this went on. In the end, they were very close to even. The...

    70s/80s Era Questions

Ray would talk you to death. You REALLY had to keep an eye on the game with Cocomo. Irrespective of all that, I enjoyed the hell out of knowing them, spending time between games talking to them, and playing against them.

    70s/80s Era Questions

One time we were there for the 9 ball tournament. I had an easy 3 ball out on a guy. I got down on the first ball and felt a stool or chair up against me. I stayed down and just looked back to move it with my foot. Bad idea!! When I looked forward again at my shot, the cue ball was rolling away...

    70s/80s Era Questions

A friend and myself got in a rig game of 3 ball one night in some tavern in White Center. There were 6 or 7 guys in it for a quarter a game and a dime a scratch and one tie all tie. It went on for hours! My friend finally won it. He spent quite some time the next afternoon putting all the change...

    70s/80s Era Questions

I used to carpool down there with Larry Nelson and Kirbie Predmore (RIP, both of you) once in a while. They were Wednesday night tournaments so we had to have a bye in league play to go. A friend and myself used to fill our freezers with meat shoot winnings from local tavern tournaments with $3...

    Interesting Brunswick

It is out of Japan. I thought it was weird too as I see a lot of guitars from Japan listed like that but in asking around found that it is a very common practice to list like that over there. Sort of being brokered through different sellers. When it sells the other listings are canceled. They...

DRAW SHOT Effects Myth Buster … a Slow Motion Video Study

Thank you Dr. Dave. It incidentally comes to mind that you have a very good voice for commentary. You are clear and articulate, no stumbling over words or repeating what you said earlier, no "ummm" or "uhhh". It is like you were a professional commentator at one time. It is not always the...

    70s/80s Era Questions

I played a lot locally in the 80's. There was no world wide web so info didn't get around very well or fast like today. We had some good books. There may have been some VCR tapes about pool but I never heard of any back then. I had some steel joint cues back then and still do. If it hits well I...

How to improve the popularity of pool?

    Conflict Over Concession of Game

I agree. If you take your cue apart anytime in a match it should be a concession of the entire match. Taking it apart shows you are done playing at least that match and that you are off to go do something else. Hard to imagine anyone ever taking a cue apart early in a match only to put it back...

Pitching a pool club in uni or school or work

I wasn't part of any of that. All the tables had been there for a great many years before I went there. Old 9 ft. Brunswick tables about a dozen of them from what I remember. Not sure if there are as many now. I could swear the cue balls were worn to undersize.

Pitching a pool club in uni or school or work

I went to the University of Washington. They had a LOT of 9ft tables and a couple 3 cushion tables in a big room for a great many years. They never had an organized club or regular tournaments. Just rented time. One year I came in 2nd in a tournament they had for a sort of qualifier for an...

    Cue repair

Now you know why you got a "good" deal on it! It has the "double pro taper"! I'd go for a new shaft and add the old one to my collection of fireplace pokers.

    How to handle aging eyesight

I have the same and they work great for me. The taller lenses work well. I am never looking over the top of them nor scrunching my head back further to keep the site line below the top of the frames. Very comfy to use. Contacts would be the best but not all of us can tolerate them or are used to...
