I'd sooner go find a local tournament with the 15 bucks!

    What is a Shaft Taper?

I recall the pro taper was described as 3/4 pro taper or 1/2 and maybe 1/4 the length of the shaft. Usually I have seen a gradual taper but have seen a more direct taper like > rather than being gradual. You sure knew when you got to the unusable part of the shaft! I remember the old Waldo cues...

    Congress should pass a law

Maybe if someone still watches TV on a 1969 Sony Trinitron CRT television set.

    Is this legal

Sometimes I let fouls ride. It can be for me a matter of having evaluated my opponents abilities. Often they are going to miss the shot no matter what they do!

there are only two kinds of cues to own.

Playing cues, I have a few! I have never been much of a collector except Marvel Comics when I was a kid.

    Identify this cue RANT

They do get worn off. I have seen more than a few of nice Huebler cues with the vertical logo worn off. I have seen and own one cue that the maker's name is either worn or just unreadable. Asking about it here got me the answer. Mystery cues are fun. Something can be learned for someone in the...

    Riding The 9!

Watched Mike Collins, a dedicated 9 ball rider, play Dick Tischler (Lake City Red's son) who was a dedicated run out kinda guy play for a few hours one night back in the mid 80s at The Name of the Game tavern here in Seattle. They ended up quite even at the which surprised us. I would have put...

Vintage Brunswick Cues - Good Deal?

The first four from the left are all I would be interested in just from an initial viewing. Might be less after inspection. The cost for conversion to a two piece might be high enough that one may as well just buy one that already is converted. I always wanted a Titlist cue or a Hoppe converted...

    What is your definition..,

"I made a living playing pool". Sure, okay. A lot of players like to kid themselves about that! Usually it's a laugh when you see how they live. Some probably don't much care how they live as long as they are free to play pool and gamble all the time. The median household income in the US is...

    Any good cues here?

Terrible picture so I am going with no. As far as "collections" go, you are far better off having just a few really good quality cues than a whole wall or two of cheap low budget cues.

Please help with my tip issue.

Ya gotta be kidding, drunk or stoned, or some combination of the three. That's okay by the way. We need a little clever humor around here once in a while!

Worst room you ever went in?

The original Golden Fleece Billiards on Lake City Way in Seattle was pretty bad. Nonetheless I was bummed when they moved to Everett because I was just about to retire at that time and I lived a short distance from it. The place in Everett is far nicer but a bit of a drive now.

Konllen Cue Stick #07-AK75-001 Red & Blue for $399 on Amazon

Of course they do. Good marketing. Get people to be fearful that they may miss out on a good discount if they don't act fast! "Operators are waiting!!" Pool players aren't the only hustlers out there!!:cautious:

    Freedom

Yeah well...I married one many years ago. Good for about 2 years. She was flaky. Cognitive processes seem to come from a part of the brain that most of us cannot access. Proceed with caution!

    Freedom

It can create problems if you have to compete against each other or are just competitive with each other. Been there done that and have seen it a few times. It never ended well. I prefer someone who has their own hobby-like interests or that we share non competitive activities.

Cue Case - Lined with Billiard Cloth

If no one is using it for a liner, there is probably a good reason not to. My guess is it is (at least) too thin, not much for a padding, and would wear out after just a few years of regular use.

Ever Overthink a Shot and Miss?

I have that book from YEARS ago. Another good book is In Pursuit of Excellence by Terry Orlick.
