    Gambling Scenario - Opinions?

I managed 2 pool rooms for about 8 years, so I've seen situations similar to this... If player A had stated before the first set that he only had time for 4 sets, or if he gets up $80 he's done playing for the night or something like that, that's acceptable. But to tell player B he's quitting...

Hypothetical Question - What would you do?

If it's a friendly/casual game, I'd say something. If it's a money game or a tournament, I wouldn't. Would it be considered good sportsmanship if something was said? Sure. But I don't consider it to be poor sportsmanship if nothing is said. Being mentally focused is part of the game...

    Pro Players and Pocket Chalkers

I think part of how accepted or popular it is or isn't is regional. Back in about 1991 or 92 a player flew in from Sweden to take lessons at the room I managed. He used a magnetic chalk holder that clipped on his belt. It wasn't a situation where players in the U.S. didn't like them...they...

Who is the best instructor in the US?

Jerry Briesath aka Breeze Instruction certainly has come a long way in the last 25 years or so. Back then there were just a handful of professional instructors throughout the U.S. There were a lot of guys who gave lessons mind you...but they weren't full-time professional pool instructors. A...

One piece slate vs 3 piece slate

I would suggest calling Mark Wilson and ask him who he hired to set up the Diamond tables at the Lindenwood University Billiards Arena in St. Charles...he is a cool guy and am sure would be glad to help. It's a top-notch facility. I'm sure he knows who to use in the St. Louis area.

This isn't from a brochure...it's a full page add that ran in Billiards Digest, but I thought there might be some interest in seeing it. This one is from April 1990:

I might be able to help. I attended several BCA Expo events in the early '90s, plus I managed a pool room less than 2 hrs from the Schon factory, so I have some of the brochures from that era:

Serious question--- how does backing players make sense financially?!?!

In all the times I've seen a player backed by a horse, the player gets his cut at the end of the session...not after each game or each set (unless only 1 game or 1 set is played of course). If I play someone 20 games of 9-ball for $100/rack, and I win 4 games, my backer would lose $1,400...
