    Pool instruction marketing strategies

As of January I plan to start instructing pool to beginner and intermediate players in my local poolroom. I'm in need of some good ways to market my services so that I can get a steady flow of students. I already have business cards made, and I'm thinking about posting on Craigslist and giving...

Simplified kicking systems, where are they?!?!

Hello AZBers, anyone know of a simple but effective kicking system that I can use to improve my kick shots? I can't count how many videos I've watched on youtube about kicking, where the lesson is usually just a boring array of complex mathematical and physics explanations which only put me in a...

Schmelke cues, anybody play with one?

The Schmelke family of cuemakers were recently inducted into the International Cuemakers Hall of Fame for their outstanding contributions to the cuemaking art and industry. I currently play with a Schmelke SP02, that I've had for a year and a half. It weighs 20 oz., features a 3/8-10 wood to...

Question, fiber pads and ivory ferrules?

You might actually be right, I never thought of it that way. If it is indeed just a glue line, then I'd like to know what type of glue it is so whenever I decide to install a new ferrule on my cue, I can let my local cue expert know how I want it to look.

Question, fiber pads and ivory ferrules?

I've never used ivory on any of my cues, but I took a few shots with a friend's cue who had an ivory ferrule with a pad recently, and liked the feedback I got from the cue ball. I know a fiber pad between the tip and ivory ferrule is necessary to prevent cracking of the ferrule. However, I've...

    Ivory Ferrule - Pro's/Con's

I've never used ivory on any of my cues personally, but I've taken a couple of hits with one from a friend's cue recently and I liked the feedback. It's a great point you made regarding the necessity of the pad between the tip and ferrule. However, I've also seen cues with pads placed between...

Is certification absolutely necessary to teach pool to beginners and intermediates?

Thanks for your advice Fran. And yes, I'm able to read a person's game pretty easily, sometimes from even the very first shot they take. If I find flaws, I can always show them how to correct them. Throughout all my years playing pool, I've tought many people (for free), and given them many...

Is certification absolutely necessary to teach pool to beginners and intermediates?

Sorry I been so busy, it's been a while since I posted my thread. Well, thanks to everybody here for giving me their input. It gives me peace of mind knowing that I can teach without any penalty for not having certification. I'm trying to come up with an effective teaching method for my...

Is certification absolutely necessary to teach pool to beginners and intermediates?

For the past few months I've been seriously thinking about teaching the game to beginner and intermediate players. I'm a skilled advanced level player with many years of experience and knowledge. I also have several local tournament wins under my belt in NJ & PA. My passion for pool is very...
