Help with thoughts / info about "RIEPER CO." billiards cue?

If they lasted into the 1970s - then for sure anyJapanese involvement happened well after WW II. My guess would be 60s into 70s -

Help with thoughts / info about "RIEPER CO." billiards cue?

They were a bowling and billiard related manufacturer. Company located in NYC early 1900s. — Do not know how long they stayed in business - cues have been for sale at times on e bay —- not much known about their cues and that probably will not change.

Interesting article on the decline of Bowling

There is a combo bowling and billiard room here in SW Florida - often I am the only person in the billiard room and walk out to literally hundreds in the much larger bowling area. Also 810 Bowling & Billiards is a newer franchise - a new one opened down here - same story - 90% bowling - 10%...

Help with thoughts about an old Antique billiards cue?

Could be an old Hoille French cue that someone did some work on it

    One of Danny's favorite movies

Yes I liked that movie, too. The box it really checks is the theme of one man living off his own abilities in a non traditional manner, in a more seedy, underworld, where , at one time, only men ventured- like pool, gun slinging, etc, etc. This was Danny's world, of course, the road less...

Do you shoot pool with a hat on?

For me a hat brim of any length is just too distracting when down on a shot.

Time for new pool balls - Aramith Tournament Pro-Cup or Brunswick Centennial

I like the Dynaspheres best but either of the other two selections will be just fine too.

Identify this cue with "W" logo?

One would be surprised and what could turn up. In 2009 I walked into a Salvation Army store on a horrible neighborhood and in the corner was an almost brand new Brampton folding bicycle! These are hand made in England and fold into a 16 inch square- the rolls Royce of folding bikes IMO- was a...

    Lifting Weights before a Tournament?

It makes no sense to lift weights on the same day before any pool session and probably one should not lift weights for the two days prior to the beginning of a tournament. This was always my practice and belief as a long term trainer and pool player. A long term weight trainer will not miss...

    Buddy Hall

I have a very simple question - here is a new member proposing that we use a “link” to Amazon- which would require entry of personal pass codes to a purchase site — who on A Z billiards has totally vetted this member and this Amazon”site” as being legit in every way - sorry I not going on a...

    What is a Shaft Taper?

My take on shaft taper, since we would be talking about how a shaft is ordered from a cue maker, is that in paying good money to a known very capable cue maker, a shaft should be ordered with a taper most desired by the player. That means the player must be experienced enough to understand their...

Check Out Bob Dzuricky's Six Point Full Splice

Bob’s cue construction is as good as it gets - his cues are as solid as you can find anywhere-built to last a life time - and a great guy to do business- never a worry!

Buy it or take a pass.

At least there were pool rooms back then! If you stole a cue from a pool room today you may have to travel for hours to find another pool room. Pawn shops usually ask for ID in most states if they buy something. Online sale today most probably.

Can’t get a straight, accurate answer from anyone. What is the story of this cue? Mispelled Mizerak (MiSerak)

One thing that I will say - the Six point forearm on your cue (not pictured in the Adam Mizerak cue series catalog ) that forearm looks very very much like the six point forearms Gus SZ. Supplied to Palmer for a 3rd catalog cue in their line. The timeframe is similar in cue releases. Wondering...

    Fortunski transformation

He definitely slimmed down and looks like he is leaner - much more chiseled features - I did not recognize him either on the screen the other day - seeing him in person several years ago he was much less lean looking - this newer appearance suggests perhaps a much healthier diet as well as...

What does the perfect glove feel like?

Yes, to me I don't even know that I have them on while paying.

What does the perfect glove feel like?

A few things that you do not want with a glove: one that is too big so that there is room between the ends of your fingers and the ends of the glove - second, a glove with thick seams that can be felt when your gloved hand is resting on the table. Other than that - comfort in a glove seems like...

pool cue once in a lifetime buy

Similar story when my son bought this Brunswick Anniversary from a widow 5 years ago - the deceased husband had $5000 worth of cues in the room - my son knows cues - she threw them in with the table - hence Free Table!

pool cue once in a lifetime buy

The idea of studying the Blue Book of cues is not for obtaining today's market prices on cues. The idea is for someone to familiarize themselves with the cue field from A to Z -- yes it is outdated, but the Blue Book at least will shed light on historical and vintage cue makers, cue production...
