I will add this - A harder stroke is required to move the rock the same distance with a soft tip than with a hard tip. I think everyone can agree on that. Therefore, The soft tip will create more spin, not because of contact time, but because you are hitting the rock with increased stroke...

What creates more spin - A players confidence that he will not miscue while hitting the ball further off center axis with a firmer stroke. That's all I got from where I went to school.

Have not played every cue made, but I have played many. With out any doubt Becue is the best hitting and playing cue I have ever used and it's not even close.

I always feel like gambling when my opponet is considerably weaker than I am. If my opponet is equal to me in skill level, there is no way I am going to gamble. Does that make me a bad person?

I will add one fact to this thread - Over time leather dries out and gets harder. When you buy a new tip how old is it actually? No way of knowing, could this be the difference maker in getting a 'magical' tip when the last one you got, same brand was hard and glazed over after minimal play?
