4.5 pockets are just fine. A Diamond with 4.5" pockets plays great. 4" and below...too much.

You're not going to see 100+ ball runs on 4" or below pockets. Period. And that would made straight pool incredibly boring.

Straight Pool is MADE for larger pockets. Having different sections of a pocket available to aim to allows for greater angles and more options to break open clusters, create break shots, etc, during a run. These tests of straight pool knowledge separate the good from the great player. A sub 4"...
