Are heavy cues the least desirable?

If anyone has a Southwest they just don't like because it's too heavy, I know someone who will take it off their hands. ME!

    Donnie anderson passed

Donnie was a classic legend and true champion! I remember watching him play in the 70s. I was amazed by the pure talent of "The Cincinnati Kid"! He left a lasting impression on me. You will be missed. Another Cincinnati Champ gone too soon!

Does anyone want to improve their game?

I can understand why you may think I sound bitter. My apologies! I would play in a tourney that didn't have an entry fee or payback. I'm not there for the money or to STEAL from weaker players. I've tried to be as objective as possible in my posts and see more sides to the issue than my own. I...

Are College Billiard Teams Still Popular?

You are probably correct. It would take someone with a genius mind and a tremendous amount of influence to promote this sport to the NCAA. With the high level of understanding it requires in geometry and strategy I'm surprised it's not already a coveted college sport.

Are College Billiard Teams Still Popular?

Sounds like a great college experience. Sure would be great to see it continued for future generations. I would like to see a push to expand the sport on the college level. This would help to change the sports image.

That is really unfortunate. However if they do still have the equipment there is still hope!

Does anyone want to improve their game?

I hear ya on the slop and luck. Happens to us all I'm sure. It's not that I expect to never lose to a lower handicapped player. We are playing a race to 3, it's gonna happen. I remember when I first started playing and there were players who were just out of my reach. After a lot of practice and...

Does anyone want to improve their game?

You probably have as good of view as anyone when it comes to a players level of commitment to improvement. I have tried to impress on some newer players the difference between winning with a handicap and winning without one. It's a hard sell to people who feel that everything in life should be...

Does anyone want to improve their game?

Thought you might want to know. I've had other AZBers send me PMs to let me know what a classless POS you really are. So be aware! You can't even make friends on here, where you can hide behind your mouse. Next time you want to hijack someone's post talk to your friends about it. Oops, I forgot...

Does anyone want to improve their game?

I'm not into bragging. Get your cheese up and come on down! I'm not opposed to playing someone who is mentally challenged!

I see you have issues with your spelling too! It's WINNER!

Does anyone want to improve their game?

So Banks, are ya broke or what? Every post you you make is about some non-player and his money. I'll bet you can't hit the end rail! You sound like a real nit! I'm surprised you haven't found a tournament that doesn't have an entry fee. If the fear of losing $10 is why need a handicap maybe you...

Does anyone want to improve their game?

And your game doesn't affect your opponents game in any way in those sports. Try and get a lucky roll in golf or bowling that leaves your opponent without a shot. In those spots you can't duck and duck you have to score to win! Instead of a pool tourney we could all draw straws or pills from a...

Does anyone want to improve their game?

Exactly! I don't know of any other competitive tournament where a person can walk in the door and have an EXPECTATION of being handicapped so they have a better chance to win! The younger generation never grew up in an environment where you had to earn it. APA wasn't established until 1981 and...

Are College Billiard Teams Still Popular?

Thanks for the info! It's good to hear it's still alive. I tend to appreciate college sports over pro. College athletes usually play hard and for the love of the game. In order for this sport to make a comeback it has to start somewhere! I think expanding college level competition would be a...

Are College Billiard Teams Still Popular?

Yeah, I remember that about Nick now that you mention it. I'm down by Gainesville, Florida now(big college town). Its hard to get a table on most nights at any of the 5 rooms here. The sun goes down and college students take over the town! They like to play, I just don't hear of any sanctioned...

Are College Billiard Teams Still Popular?

I'm not sure what's going on at the college level these days. My son is finishing his Pre-law undergrad at the University of Cincinnat. He said there are some 1 table on campus that he is aware of but that's it. Most sports have a "trickle down effect". The NFL has an interest in college...

Are College Billiard Teams Still Popular?

Back when I was in college(1980s) collegiate billiard teams were common. I played in the Dayton,Ohio area and it wasn't unusual for members of the University of Dayton billiard team to come to the local tournaments I talked to some of the players and they all represented the sport in a very...

Does anyone want to improve their game?

And that is sportsmanship at its finest! When it happens, I take my lumps and do the same thing. There is a huge difference between players who want to improve and those who are arguing to keep their handicap lower than it should be and have some sense of entitlement. I hope other areas of the...
