Is there such a thing as natural talent? Some say yes, I do not think there is?

There absolutely IS natural talent. A person having such talent no doubt has to still put in the hours and hours of practice and play to be the best, but natural talent does exist. Better athletes are better pool players. The same eyesight that makes a person hit a baseball better makes him sink...

    Reducing pocket size.

Thanks for the information Chris, it is appreciated. To make sure I've got it right, extending the subrail is the only procedure that will result in the rails playing properly after all is said and done. One further question. Once the sub rails are extended does that mean that the current...

    Reducing pocket size.

I have a 9 foot table with pockets reduced to 4 3/8 in the corners and to 5+ on the sides. They were reduced many years ago with some very think pieces of facing material and it effects both the play of the facings as facings and the bounce off the rail when you miss your shot. I'd like to have...

    Denali Purple Heart Break Cue

I recently bought this cue: Denali PH breaker by QMAKER. It wasn't a custom order, I was just cruising around his site and spotted it. To what extend he takes custom orders should be discussed with him. At any rate, here's a quick review. The look is simple and clean. I like it and think it is a...

AZB Cue of the Year 2012 - Voting

"Despicable"? I love fine cues, but it's only a cue. It is despicable to get so upset about a name being left off, especially since some of the names are just plain dumb.

    Theoretical APA 9-ball rules question

Fortunately this only happened on our practice table, so it didn't cause a "debate" in our match, but I'd still like to know what the right rule interpretation would have been for it. An object ball, neither the next consecutive ball nor the 9-ball, is hanging in a corner pocket. The next...

    SBE 2012 Constructive Criticism

I've gone every year for at least 10 years, but a move to Atlantic City would end it for me. I also think it would hurt the vendors a lot as people would spend their money on gambling. JMHO.

    Bumperless Cues?

I absolutely agree, I've had 2 built that way (a Barnhart & a Scruggs). They are very classical cues and I felt the bumperless option was a must, but I want the protection of a bumper when I play with it. BTW, as clumsy as I am the bumper is no guarantee the butt sleeve won't get dinged, but it...

Factory pics of Diamond's 5x10 slate

Yeah, I think your post went up at the same time as mine or I would have deferred to your experience. When I multiply 700 x 1 3/16" I get 831 pounds. I've played on the 9 footer you got for ITGUY, plays awful nice. Steve.<== would love a diamond, but happy to at least have a Peter Vitalli.

Do yu take as much time to play a safe shot as you do an easy shot?

I put more time into safes, just don't have enough experience with them to free wheel it.

Factory pics of Diamond's 5x10 slate

slate = 168 pounds per cubic foot 60 x 120 x 1 = 7200 cubic inch 7200/(12x12X12) = 4.1666.... cubic feet 168 x 4.1666.... = 700 lbs. The outside dimensions are probably a little bigger than 5'x10' and you'd have to subtract the pocket cutouts, but that has to be pretty close.
